1986 Vw Syncro Westfalia Wolfsburg Edition Vanagon 4wd on 2040-cars
Cumberland, Rhode Island, United States
Here it is,
the one you’ve been waiting for, the uber rare VW Westfalia Syncro Vanagon
Wolfsburg Edition with a No Reserve Auction. This 4WD VW is a nice example of a low
mileage all original never messed with camper.
This 1986 Syncro has just 109 thousand original miles. In fact when I bought it still had an original VW battery as well as original spark plugs and wires. The interior is an excellent condition, as well as the camping equipment and the canvas tent. I just replaced the skylight. The original paint shined up pretty nice too. Just a little rust on the lower front nose and some rust on the lower rockers. Very minimal rust for a 28 year old vehicle. Follow the link to see over 50 photos. Click Here The Syncro
does run and drive, but because of its long slumber there are a few issues that
should be corrected before she’s ready for 4 wheelin’ camping adventures again.
The brakes
are a little sticky, fuel and temp. gauges aren’t working. Could use sway bar
links and tires. Third gear grinds a little if you’re not careful. I would also replace the fuel lines to be on
the safe side. Like I said all the little things a vehicle would need to be a
daily driver again. I already replaced a few exhaust components, so they’re
good to go.
All in all with a little work you’ll have a rare piece of VW history that will only increase in value as time goes by. Happy bidding!
The Syncro
is registered in the State of RI. RI doesn’t issue titles to vehicles over 10
years old so check your local state laws for paperwork you may need. It will be
sold as is with no warranty, a Bill of Sale, and a copy of the current
registration.
Local buyers
are welcome to an inspection, email for an appointment. Shipping is the buyer’s
responsibility. I will assist a transportation company of your choice.
An immediate
deposit of $500 is required at the auctions end through PayPal. The remainder to be paid with cash or a
certified bank or cashier’s check within 7 days of auctions end.
Any
questions just email. Thanks. Here is a preview of some of the pics. Again, here is a link to all the photos: Click Here |

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
Volkswagen shows off performance-ish Passat concept
Mon, 14 Jan 2013As part of its 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut package, Volkswagen has rolled out a sportier version of the Passat sedan, though it's strictly conceptual for now. A small dose of go-fast visuals have been added to the handsome Volkswagen, including 19-inch wheels, carbon-capped mirrors, an advanced front lighting system, LED taillamps and dual exhaust. Some carbon bits and upgraded leather are found inside the cabin, as well.
But the real performance chops come in the form of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sends 250 horsepower to the Passat's front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. That's a good boost in power over the 170 hp of the base 2.5-liter inline-five, but not quite as potent as the 3.6-liter VR6. A lowered sport suspension and revised electronic steering are also on hand, making things slightly more involving out on the road... we assume.
It's not quite the performance concept we were hoping for, but a more enthusiastic Passat isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scroll down for the press release.
Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits
Wed, 15 May 2013The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.
