Beautifully Restored VW Westfalia Started with a clean title, clean Carfax, and completely rust free. Exterior restoration: Vehicle was stripped of all rubber and trim, lights and accessories. Body was taken down to the metal, prepped and repainted a beautiful dark rich Bronze metallic, color sanded and buffed out. The paint work alone was $6,700.00 The top was refurbished with the same attention to detail. New seals and all stainless steel hardware on the pop top. The luggage rack has all stainless tie-downs and screws. Canvas tent is new cotton with 3 zippered windows for cross ventilation and view. Headlights are restored OEM units, cleaned and polished. Bulbs are Sylvania Ultra Halogens. Interior: Interior is sparkling and has been completely shampooed and detailed to like new condition. Rear seat cushion has a small fabric defect, but is hardly noticeable. I did not want to replace the nice matching original material for something aftermarket and inferior to the original tough German fabric. Interior floor is protected with a full set of GoWesty all weather hex floor mats. Interior has been sound deadened with Dynamat. Stereo is a Top of the line Kenwood Excelon. USB, Bluetooth, Pandora, and aha, are all built in. Bonds to your phone and sends calls through the speakers. Microphone is mounted on the steering wheel. Camping gear: The sink and stove areas look brand new and work perfectly. The refrigerator works off of propane, electric, (Shore power), and battery. There is an R.V. battery installed and works with an 1100W inverter from GoWesty, as well as a GoWesty 80W Solar panel. You’ll never need to plug in for those off grid trips to have power. The propane tank was sandblasted, hydrostatically tested, and powder coated. All valves and safety equipment is new. A brand new TomTom GPS 740 live is included for your navigation needs. All GoWesty hook-ups are brand new. Mechanical Restoration: Engine was fully rebuilt by the respected S & S motors that specialize in VW and Subaru race engine builds. The engine is a VW 2.1 L with virtually all of the GoWesty upgrades. Too many details of what was done to list. All of the fuel lines were replaced as well as the fuel injector seals and intake runner boots. All external parts, cap, rotor, wires, filters, and belts were replaced. The alternator was replace with a rebuilt German Bosch unit. New exhaust installed as well with the GoWesty stainless steel catalytic convertor. Cooling system and radiator was completely flushed and filled and thermostat is the new GoWesty upgraded model. The radiator has a brand new fan motor as well. A/C unit is a rebuilt Sanden and works great, rare to have working A/C in these Westy’s… Runs clean and passes California’s strict smog requirements. Automatic transmission fully serviced with new fluids, filters, gaskets, and seals and shifts smoothly with now issues. Trans-cooler kit from Van Café also installed for transmission longevity and long continuous road trips keeping the transmission cool. Oil temperature gauge from Van Café also installed to eliminate the dreaded Vanagon low oil buzzer going off on the road falsely, unless it truly is low in oil. Both CV axles in the rear have been rebuilt. Front axles have new inner and outer wheel bearings. Both ball joints upper and lower, tie rod ends, and axles were replaced.

Volkswagen offers Beetle Classic, priced from $20,195*

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

The current Volkswagen Beetle already tries to be a fairly retro-looking ride by cribbing styling elements from the iconic original. However, for the new, limited-edition Classic model, VW is hopping into the time machine to grab even more vintage cues. The company is even cutting the price, perhaps in hopes of turning around flagging sales this year. You don't need to wait long for any of these upgrades either because the automaker says that the Classic goes on sale this week for $20,195, *excluding the $820 destination charge. That's $100 less than a bone-stock Beetle.
Starting as a standard Beetle with VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, the Classic edition comes with a six-speed automatic and then adds some retro flair. It includes new vintage-look 17-inch wheels with simulated dog dish polished hubcaps over black spokes. It also comes with a rear spoiler, and the automaker is offering the model in Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
The interior mixes in a few more classic touches but includes modern amenities like a standard navigation system, satellite radio and multifunction steering wheel. However, the seats are finished in a two-tone design combining light brown leatherette on the sides and checked cloth centers, plus lumbar support for the driver's side. The shift knob and handbrake also get wrapped in leather.

Volkswagen reveals Beetle GSR, R-Line convertible and two special GTIs

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Volkswagen has chosen to really expand its performance-tuned portfolio at this year's Chicago Auto Show, bringing along a couple of new Beetles destined for model year 2014, as well as a pair of freshened GTI packages that you'll be able to buy almost right away.
The first, and splashiest of the Chicago goodies on the VW stand has got to be the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR. Don't lose your temper, Acura Integra geeks; in this case, GSR stands for "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer," and harkens back to a sport-tuned classic Beetle from the 1970s. For the 2014 iteration, the GSR gets a 210-horsepower version of VW's 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder. That engine is enough to push the Beetle to 60 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds, and up to a top speed of 130 mph.
Of course, you'll have long-since noticed the shockingly yellow-and-black livery before you stumble across the Turbo badge on the rear deck. The GSR gets 19-inch alloy wheels, 235-section tires and a tea-tray rear spoiler, but it's the paint and graphics package that will decide if this is your (lemony) cup of tea. Things don't get any subtler inside the car, either, as VW has carried the colorway through to the interior, as well. Only 3,500 Beetle GSRs will be produced, with just more than half of those going to the US - call your dealer today, Wiz Khalifa.

Production Volkswagen Taigun crossover caught in patent filing?

Wed, 01 May 2013

Volkswagen brought an angular, bulldog-like small crossover concept called Taigun to the São Paulo motor show last year, claiming that it wanted to gauge interest in the design before making a decision about production. If a new report with alleged leaked patent images is to be believed, then, interest must have been pretty high.
China's Auto.Sohu.com has published this group of Taigun images, claiming that they have been sourced from the Chinese patent office and that the subcompact VW utility based on the Up! has been cleared for production.
If all of that is true, and if these images are representative of the final product, you'll see that designers haven't done much to alter the concept car's appearance. Comparing, shot for shot, with the images we have from Brazil, we see that even small details like roof rack-mounted lights and exhaust tips integrated in the rear fascia have been carried over. Take a closer look for yourself in the attached galleries.
