Outstanding VW Westy, with 52053 original miles, runs and drives great. Previous owner had $2300 worth of work done to it about 6500 miles ago to include upper ball joints, 4 CV boots, removed and resealed transmission, front outer tie rods, rear main seal, and 4 new tires (I have the receipt for all that). This was everything it needed to be perfect, she then passed away a couple years later and it sat for a few years. When I got it the slave cylinder was stuck so I replaced it and bleed the system, brakes could use a bit more bleeding as pedal travel is a little low but it stops good. I also adjusted the valves and changed the oil and filter, it runs great with no leaks! Has an aftermarket cd player with nice aftermarket speakers throughout. Everything works, wipers, lights, turn signals, heat, speedometer, odometer, e-brake, ect). This is the first westy I've seen with what seems like factory A/C controls (see pic), the controls turn on the unit above the back seats, when you turn the inner knob to AC you can hear a relay click but it doesn't blow cold, I think it needs a compressor because I can't find one (unless it's internal of the unit like a home window unit, but it's not on the engine?), anyway, all the other components for it are there behind the front grill (condenser, evaporator, lines that lead to the unit). Body is very good and seems to have been painted a darker green at some point, when you open the door you can see the two-toned look which I think looks pretty cool (see pic), really no rust to speak of, not even in the battery compartment, rain gutters (see pic), or wheel wells (see pic). I did take a pic of the one spot I've found where some paint chipped away and there is surface rust (see pic). Manual tranny shifts great and smoothly into each gear. The tent has a tear that has tape on it, when I took these pics today it was raining and no rain got in, but I would glue a canvas patch on it if I was keeping it. Windows, doors, and top open and close smoothly, it looks like the inner sliding door handle was rubbing the body when it would slide open at one point in time (see pic) but it has clearance now. A couple of the plastic corner bumpers were loose so I took them off and they are in the vehicle. I don't know how to use the appliances but like everything else I'm sure they work, feel free to ask me anything and I'll go check it out, I can send specific pics if you want or I will call you if you send me your number. This westy drives great but I have not driven it far and since it sat for a while I would recommend shipping it, and driving it locally for a few days before it made a road trip. The reserve is real low, this will sell

**NOTE** I see that the ebay vehicle report is flagging the title, I assure you I have a clean clear title in my name, in my hands right now. This flag is odd because as you click on it, it eventually says that there may be a problem with the odometer, but in the odometer section it says it's good, and you can see in the report that the mileage has always been increasing. Anyways rest assure you can ignore this flag, the odometer checks good and the title is clean.

Volkswagen CrossBlue previews a three-row future, diesel-hybrid power [w/video]
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Volkswagen looks to be getting ready to jump into the large three-row crossover game. The automaker has officially pulled back the curtain on the CrossBlue Concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
Designers and engineers penned the machine specifically for the Canadian and US markets, and with a plug-in diesel electric hybrid drivetrain, the hulking five-door, at least in concept form, should offer substantially better efficiency than anything else on the market. The drivetrain pairs a 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 305 horsepower and a ludicrous 516 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch gearbox handles shifting detail, while one electric motor spins the front wheels. The second motor spins the back axle independently, make the CrossBlue a through-the-road hybrid.
As a result, the crossover can pop to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Perhaps more impressively, the CrossBlue can whir around on all-electric propulsion for up to 14 miles at up to 75 mph. Once the diesel four kicks in, the drivetrain can yield up to 39 mpg, though Volkswagen says the hardware can hit 89 MPGe on a full charge thanks to a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Check out the full press release below for more information.
VW reveals Outback-rivaling Golf Alltrack ahead of Paris
Wed, 24 Sep 2014The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is getting a baby brother at this year's 2014 Paris Motor Show in the form of a new Golf Alltrack. Like its larger sibling, the little wagon is supposed to offer light-duty off-road driving ability combined with a more rugged look to show it off.
To give the Golf Alltrack that soft-road ability, VW is outfitting the wagon with its latest 4Motion all-wheel drive system from Haldex. The setup can decouple power from the rear-axle when not needed to save fuel. To further improve traction, the Alltrack gets VW's electronic differential lock, and the car can individually brake its inside wheel during hard cornering for better handling.
Volkswagen also wants the Alltrack to be able to visually show that it can handle getting away from the pavement, even though it starts life as a standard Golf wagon. That means jacking up the suspension an extra 0.75 inches and adding black moldings all the way around the car. There are also redesigned bumpers for the front and rear and silver underbody protection, plus new accents like anodized roof rails and silver mirror caps. The interior is essentially unchanged from the wagon, except for altered trim and Alltrack badges.
Volkswagen iBeetle gets integrated iPhone dock, little else
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Apple fans have been itching to see the tech giant flex the full muscle of its iOS operating system in an automotive infotainment system for years, which is why we turned all sorts of excited when we caught wind of the Volkswagen iBeetle. The machine is headed to the Shanghai Motor Show for a debut, and VW promised it would be one of the "first cars in the world to have a genuine integrative interface for the iPhone that was coordinated with Apple." Listen closely, and you can hear the contented sigh of a million wallets opening.
Go ahead and close those up, kids.
In reality, the iBeetle offers little more than a dash-mounted dock and a special app that shows a few vehicle functions, which is about as far from an infotainment revolution as you're likely to find. In fact, the setup is little more than a factory rehash of aftermarket items, and hardly worth a whole model debut at an international motor show. And that's to say nothing of the fact that Apple relishes in changing the shape and form of its darling handheld at every generation. Volkswagen better be prepared to keep pace with appropriate docking mechanisms for the upcoming iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, et al.
