Mint condition, show quality fully restored 1979 Riviera. 2 owner van (previous owner was a local politician.) Less than 5000 miles on rebuilt 2 fuel injected hydraulic valve motor and transmission by local VW shop here in Portland Oregon. I have paper work on the rebuild. Mint interior, all seats have been reupholstered. Full show quality high end window out, door off paint job on rust free body. All new door and window seals. Only 152k original miles. The van has only been driven sparingly since the restoration. The van has always been garaged. Absolutely ZERO RUST!!! The van looks like it just rolled of the show room floor in 1979. Both the first and second owners were meticulous when it came to the maintenance and general care and preservation of the van. Custom made awning cost over 1500 is included. The van was stored for many years prior to restoration. Runs, drives, perfect. One of the best, if not the best Riviera's in the country. The pictures speak for them selves.... PAINT/ BODY- Show quality full window out paint job over the original paint. Doors were removed as well. The car was painted using Dupont 2 stage paint. The entire bus was color sanded and buffed and polished. Several coats of clear coat were applied to give the paint a very nice shine and depth. All the doors were removed as well as all windows. The doors were repainted including the interior sides. All jambs were repainted. The bus was repainted its rare factory orange color. The paint was done to show quality standards. The body is laser strait, all door and body gaps are perfect. The bus was completely rust free and needed very little body work. All new door seals and window rubber on all windows. All glass is in good condition. Sought after factory orange and white color, (rare on a Riviera). The bumpers and wheels where sandblasted and repainted. No wrecks or accident history. All lenses are in good condition. Spotless under carriage. The factory under coating is still in great condition. The wheel wells had new undercoating applied when the van was repainted. This is a accident and rust free West Coast VW. POP TOP- The pop top is in great condition, The original canvas is in excellent condition.

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.

VW reveals Outback-rivaling Golf Alltrack ahead of Paris

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is getting a baby brother at this year's 2014 Paris Motor Show in the form of a new Golf Alltrack. Like its larger sibling, the little wagon is supposed to offer light-duty off-road driving ability combined with a more rugged look to show it off.
To give the Golf Alltrack that soft-road ability, VW is outfitting the wagon with its latest 4Motion all-wheel drive system from Haldex. The setup can decouple power from the rear-axle when not needed to save fuel. To further improve traction, the Alltrack gets VW's electronic differential lock, and the car can individually brake its inside wheel during hard cornering for better handling.
Volkswagen also wants the Alltrack to be able to visually show that it can handle getting away from the pavement, even though it starts life as a standard Golf wagon. That means jacking up the suspension an extra 0.75 inches and adding black moldings all the way around the car. There are also redesigned bumpers for the front and rear and silver underbody protection, plus new accents like anodized roof rails and silver mirror caps. The interior is essentially unchanged from the wagon, except for altered trim and Alltrack badges.

Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki

Tue, 02 Oct 2012

Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
