Up for Auction is a very clean very straight Golf. I purchased as an extra vehicle, did all the repairs and maintenance it needed, drove it for a bit and now no longer need it.

Work I've done includes:

4 brand new tires
2 new rack & pinion boots
transmission service
Timing belt replaced
New Alternator
Upgraded reverse lights
new rear wheel bearings
new brake hose
added Alpine CD Player
replaced all accessory belts
replaced temperature sensor
replaced battery
oil change.
new door handle installed
new wiper blades
new dipstick tube
new radiator cap

downsides:
the left side of the back seat has a spot the fabric is thin I enclosed a pic showing
the body trim has one blemish that I got it, the left rear wheel well has a blemish from when a tire came apart on me, hence the 4 brand new tires. I also included close up photographs showing it.
the right rear door has a small dent in it, the paint is not cracked and doesn't affect the window or any door functions, was there when I got the car. included a photograph showing it
paint is a little crinkly in spots, looks like the car has been painted before, no other signs of damage or anything I could find.

Nothing terribly bad or anything but I wanted to be complete with nothing left out

Car drives great, interior is very clean, drives quiet and solid, seats still have the nice german firmness yet very comfortable air conditioning does work, wouldn't hesitate to drive anywhere, no rust underneath. Underside is as clean as the topside.

Feel free to ask questions or come and see how nice it is for yourself. I welcome you to come and test drive to see just how nice it really is. Feel free to either email me at tomco13@comcast.net or you can call or text me at 847-305-9313

thanks for looking and happy bidding

Tom

Bentley considering diesel engine for new SUV

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Turns out, in case you didn't know, the rich are just like regular people. They too are concerned about the environment, even when tooling around town in their super-luxurious Bentleys. So the automaker is weighing the idea of offering a diesel engine in its SUV offering, which could help satisfy customers' demands for more fuel-efficient engines.
Chairman and CEO Wolfgang Schreiber told Autoblog in a roundtable interview at the Geneva Auto Show that the automaker is researching whether or not a diesel engine makes sense for the brand. Bentley, owned by the Volkswagen Group, could in theory use a diesel engine from anywhere in the Volkswagen Group family. We at Autoblog have hopes they'll revive the V10 TDI used in the VW Touareg until 2010, but ever-stricter emissions laws would likely make that problematic.
But rich people aren't so much like us that they'll be worried about petty things like pricing. Schreiber admitted the diesel engine could be a $15,000 option, which he said customers would probably find "acceptable." Given that the cheapest Bentley today starts at $177,000, typical customers probably won't be diddling around worrying about an extra 15 grand.

Andretti Autosport partners with Volkswagen for Global Rallycross season

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Michael Andretti and Volkswagen have both been involved in Global Rallycross for a couple of years, but not together. Andretti Motorsports Marketing organized the final round of the 2012 GRC series in Las Vegas, and there were rumors then that Andretti was going to get in. Around the same time there were news reports that Volkswagen was preparing a 600-hp Polo Mk5 to race in the SuperCar class; the photo above is racer Anton Marklund in his privateer Marklund Motorsports Polo at the 2013 X-Games round in Los Angeles.
Now it's official: Andretti Autosport will campaign the 2014 GRC season with VWs. That's all that's been said for now, Andretti being busy at the moment launching four entries for IndyCar, two for Indy Lights and two for Pro Mazda. We have a feeling we'll be seeing the MkVII Golf involved, but the cars and the driver lineup will be presented at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6.

Volkswagen's 261-mpg hand-built XL1 headed for Geneva

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

After years of rumors, development and testing, the Volkswagen XL1 is finally about to become a reality. The project that began life as a daring 1-Liter concept car in 2002, will finally get its production-ready curtain call at the Geneva Motor Show in just a few weeks.
As soon as it hits the streets, the two-seat XL1 will instantly become the most fuel-efficient and most aerodynamic production car in the world. The car uses a plug-in hybrid system to achieve mind-blowing consumption of just 0.9 liters of diesel fuel consumed every 100 kilometers (and average of roughly 261 miles per gallon). Plus, the XL1 can go up to 50 kilometers on its battery power alone. Coefficient of drag is a miniscule 0.189, thanks to a tiny frontal area and an obviously slippery shape.
XL1 power comes from a two-cylinder diesel motor connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the 20 kW electric motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery. Both combine to give the XL1 performance figures that are, while not stirring, not shabby considering its extreme frugality: 0-62 miles per hour comes up in 12.7 seconds and top speed is nearly 146 mph.
