This is an excellent running car. The only reason I'm selling is because the men in my family won't drive a stick! I've used 100% synthetic oil, mid grade gas, I have all maintenance records. The miles on this car are 80% highway. I used to drive to KC and back for my job. Purchased tires in May, 2012 with 182,766 miles on the car, and they are still almost new, and had it aligned at the same time. In March, 2012 it had a full tune up, and replaced the brake pads, rotors and calipers. In February, 2012 replaced the catalytic converter. In February, 2011, replaced the fuel pump module assembly. In December, 2010, replaced the timing belt, water pump, and serpentine belt. As you can see, it's almost brand new. I don't want to sell, but need to have other family members be able to drive my car. I have the factory remote/key and two new keys from the dealer ($250). I purchased this car in February of 2010 with 67,000 miles on it. I have the CARFAX report from the sale. I'm the third owner. This has never been wrecked or even a fender bender. It's side trim could use replacing if you see fit, I've taken close up pics. It has a few minor hail dings, and the driver's side visor needs a clip, but I didn't see the need to replace. The windshield has two cracks (not in line of site). I can replace or give you $200 credit. If you have any questions, please call me at 314-974-3018, this sale is final. I will only accept cash or a cashier's check that can be cashed immediately. Thanks for looking.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible gets the R-Line treatment
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Volkswagen just launched the topless Beetle Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but we're already seeing the next step forward in the topless Bug range with this, the R-Line. We'll admit, this treatment falls under the "all show and no go" category, but it's still a pretty potent little cutie.
The R-Line starts with a standard Beetle Turbo Convertible but adds unique 19-inch aluminum wheels on lower-profile tires, LED daytime running lamps and Xenon headlamps. Naturally, there are R-Line badges aplenty both on the interior and exterior, and we must say, the whole package looks pretty darn snazzy.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but when it goes on sale later this year, the hotter convertible will join Volkswagen's growing R-Line portfolio that now includes the CC, Beetle hatch, Tiguan and Touareg.
UAW tactics called into question at VW's TN plant
Thu, 26 Sep 2013The United Auto Workers is in hot water with some of the very workers it is trying to unionize at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant. According to The Tennessean, eight Volkswagen factory workers have filed complaints against the UAW with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the union "misled or coerced" them into formally asking for union representation.
The UAW has instituted a major push at the Chattanooga plant to represent the 2,500 hourly laborers that build the VW Passat by using what's called a card-check process. The tactic is opposed by the National Right to Work Legal Defense foundation, the group representing the workers. The card-check process demands that a company recognize a union that obtains the signatures of more than half its workforce, according to The Tennessean. This tactic is in contrast to the more traditional route, which sees employees vote on union representation.
The workers filing the complaint claim that the UAW told them the cards merely called for a secret ballot, rather than an outright demand for union representation. Workers also allege that the UAW has made it overly difficult to reclaim their signed cards, some of which were signed so long ago that they have been rendered invalid. Although the cards can force a company's hand, federal law still allows the company to ask for a secret ballot before yielding to unionized workers.
VW confirms Golf GTD diesel coming to US for 2016
Wed, 03 Jul 2013Part of the Volkswagen Golf recipe that has helped the car sell more than 30 million units in just under 40 years is the number of variants in which the hatchback is offered. Building on that range here in the US, Automotive News is reporting that we will finally be getting the sporty Golf GTD, likely as a 2016 model. It's the GTD, you'll recall, that crosses the performance abilities of the venerable GTI with a powerful and fuel-efficient diesel engine.
After speaking with Andreas Valbuena, Volkswagen product manager for the Golf, AN not only says that the GTD will for sale in the US in a couple years, it also estimates a baseline price of around $27,000, which would place it between the current pricing for the GTI and the Golf R. The GTD is launching in Europe this summer, but we won't be getting the seventh-generation Golf in the US for another year. The news about the performance diesel model isn't entirely unexpected - VW officials have been hinting at it for at least a year now, going so far as to import a sixth-generation model for media test drives on US soil, a task we happily took them up on last year.
The Mk VII GTD uses VW's 2.0-liter TDI engine with output increased to 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to sprint to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds while returning more than 40 mpg in highway driving. We can't wait.
