Model Overview
The 2007 Volkswagen Jetta is only offered as a four-door sedan, with two different engines; models designated "2.5" have a 2.5L in-line five-cylinder engine that makes 150 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, and "2.0T" models have a 2.0L turbocharged, direct-injected in-line four-cylinder, making 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. 2.0T models can accelerate to 60 miles per hour in just under seven seconds, according to VW, while also achieving EPA fuel economy ratings of up to 25 city, 32 highway. California-emissions states get cleaner PZEV versions of the 2.5 model. The 2.5 gets a standard five-speed manual transmission, while the 2.0T gets a six-speed manual. A six-speed automatic with Tiptronic manual selection is optional on the 2.5; a six-speed manual DSG automatic--for faster gear changes--is optional on the 2.0T. The electro-mechanical steering system is also tuned for enthusiastic driving.Standard equipment on all Jettas now includes air conditioning, cruise control, eight-way adjustable front seats, a CD sound system, and a tilt/telescope steering wheel. The base 2.5 comes with steel wheels, but the 2.5 upgrades to 16-inch alloys.Front side-impact air bags and side-curtain air bags for front and rear outboard occupants are standard, but rear-passenger side thorax air bags are optional. Four-wheel anti-lock brakes are also standard across the line. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is also standard on all but the base 2.5.Wolfsburg Edition and Sport Limited models add more luxury features with the 2.5L engine, while GLI and Fahrenheit GLI models add more performance-focused high-end features, such as alloy pedals and xenon headlamps. Top options include a navigation system, a power sunroof, an iPod adapter, an AC power outlet, and a garage door opener.

30 Mpg. 155k highway miles, regular maintenance from dealer and merchant tire company.

Just VA. inspected, this is a vey clean car and looks like it has 60k on it, the way it was kept.

She is selling it because she is buying a new car and selling out right because the dealer where she wants her new car will only give her peanuts for the car. $4200. I told her sell it out right and she will get more than that for it. ! Make us an offer. We have already received a few $4200 offer so go above that. We RESERVE the Right to end the auction at any time and sell it locally where it is listed for $5900.

The good : Is the car looks like it has only 60k miles on it ...nicely kept and clean and running great !

The bad: Back tires are great the front tires have 50% and may need replace in one year. The only other thing that is notable is that after the car warms up it sometimes makes a shifting noise from 1st to 2nd gear. The rest of the gears 4th,5th,6th, shift great and when driving on the highway no issue at all shifts smooth. When she had it inspected last week she was told that it maybe a few things, like the electronic shift module may need reprogramming ($150), or transmission may need a flush and screen replacement ($200), or could be a valve body. All not that expensive she just doesn't want to put more money into the car at this point because all her money is going into buying a new car.  With a little money this could be mint ! And look at the others on ebay, nothing looks like this less than $7500 and go as high as $10,900. With all that said the car is and looks like it is 2 years old. Everything else works and functions as it should. It is being sold as is where is and no implied warranty. The car is listed locally for $8500 and I reserve the right to end my auction at anytime. Email me with reasonable best offers. Thanks and happy bidding.

Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?

VW outsells GM in China for first time in 8 years

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

In case you didn't know, Volkswagen is hell-bent on becoming the largest automaker in the world. The German carmaker has inched closer to that goal, having outsold General Motors in China last quarter for the first time in eight years.
Volkswagen's sales in China, its largest marker, increased by 21 percent last quarter to 704,991 units. Those numbers almost tripled GM's third-quarter growth, and were enough to beat out the American automaker's 664,765 sales. GM, however, still leads in year-to-date sales in China by a slim margin of around 77,000 units. The Asian nation also happens to be GM's largest market, and according to the report in Automotive News, China's car market may grow to be larger than the US, Japan and Germany combined in three years' time.
About the news his company was bested in China by VW last quarter, GM CEO Dan Akerson is quoted saying, "It's not whether you're the biggest car manufacturer. It's whether you want to be the most profitable." It should be noted of these figures that GM includes truck figures, yet excludes Hong Kong and Macau from its Chinese sales numbers, while VW does just the opposite. Through September of this year, Volkswagen had 5 of the 10 best selling vehicles in China. GM boasted three of the cars on that list.

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.
