I am finally ready to let her go! This is a 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe! It has a 1600 Dual Port engine, and a 4 speed manual transmission. It is a great car that spent it's entire life in California, until we moved back here. The interior is in great shape. It has 4 new tires, with less than 100 miles on them. New rotors, and pads in the front. New battery. It doesn't need anything to be a daily driver, although that is not what it has been. I have only had her out a hand full of times, to shows and to car cruises. These are only going to go up in value, and have been for the last few years. It has a little surface rust on drivers door, from some old body work. I purchased a perfect, complete door for her years ago, and it will go with her. I also have a complete set of german glass that will go with her. This is the last one of 6 Ghias that I've owned, so your the lucky one that will get extras, that really are worth a ton of money, for basically free. The car alone is worth the asking price. It has a perfect NEVER hit nose, which is like finding a unicorn! It is the only one I've ever had, that's why I kept her. It has an older repaint, and slight body work here and there, but looks great from 10 feet away. With a little body work and a new paint job($1500), this is a 10-12K car all day long. Sorry for all the numbers, it's just that the last time I thought about selling her I had to explain to a lot of people what it was, and what it was worth. This is the best year, hands down, 12 Volt system, and Disc brakes, and still the cool bumpers, and smaller tail lights. Everything works as it should, but understand, it is 43 years old! Lamborghini and Bentley may hold off on SUVs so VW can conserve cash
Thu, 11 Oct 2012After surveying the European economic scene, Volkswagen may have decided now is not the time to launch utility vehicles with Bentley and Lamborghini badges. Bentley officials say they will continue to push for support for the EXP 9 F and Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman has said planning for the Urus will continue until VW tells it to stop.
That decision could come on November 23, when VW's board will vote on the company's budget for equipment, factories and vehicles. With VW's sales slowing and the Euro economy slumping further, some industry watchers say the company is more likely to build its cash reserves than to introduce super-expensive luxury SUVs or crossovers.
"Such vehicles are anything but obligatory during a crisis," says Frankfurt-based Equinet AG analyst Tim Schuldt in a new Automotive News Europe story. "Delaying their launch would be no drama but help save costs."
VW updates Scirocco with revised styling, new engines
Sun, 16 Feb 2014The Scirocco is undoubtedly one of the better-looking models in the Volkswagen lineup, but introduced back in 2008, it's now been on the market - some markets, anyway - for the better part of six years. VW is said to have an all-new replacement in the works, but before that arrives, the German automaker has announced a facelifted version with revised styling and a new engine lineup.
Set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the new Scirocco benefits from updated styling front and rear, high-tech exterior lighting, a revised cabin space with some throwback retro touches, some new technologies and, of course, an array of fresh wheel options ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
The updated Scirocco will be offered with a wide array of engines right from the get-go, including four gasoline options and two diesels, spanning from 125 horsepower all the way up to the 280-hp Scirocco R. The 2014 model hits European showrooms in August, but unfortunately isn't any more likely to make the transatlantic voyage Stateside than the version it replaces. Still interested? Volkswagen Multivan Alltrack Concept takes the luxury van life off road
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Volkswagen dug into its commercial vehicle fleet for its latest Geneva Motor Show concept, blending the versatile body of the T5 MultiVan with a luxuriously appointed interior, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a thrifty diesel powertrain.
That 177-horsepower diesel engine routes its power to the AWD system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Based on that alone, we'd expect the Multivan Alltrack's behind-the-wheel experience to be somewhat familiar. That all-wheel-drive system and van body contribute to the 21-degree approach and 15-degree departure angles of this soft-roading MultiVan.
What wouldn't be familiar is its exquisite cabin. Volkswagen opted for a nautical theme for the concept's interior, featuring grey-blue leather seats from Poltrona Frau and a floor finished in real wood. The dark wood trim can also be found throughout the interior, running below the windows and on the dash.
