~Good rust free Karmann Ghia's are getting really difficult to find. This is a good one! 1 owner, 80,000 original miles, 100% rust free, life long California car. Last year for this for the Ghia's. Being in California, its never seen a day of snow or a salty road in its life! 1585cc 4 speed. ~The body and paint are flawless! Not so much as a scratch! Super straight with a nice deep finish. All of the body lines are excellent. Its finished in its original color, orange with black top and interior. Its never been hit and it still retains all of its original body panels. The pan is original and perfect! No rust, scaling or under coating crap. Just nice and original. ~The interior is clean. The dash is perfect and uncut. Still has the original radio. The door panels are excellent. The seats are in good shape. Drivers seat has a small split in the seam. The top is in good shape and it has the solid glass back window. The convertible top headliner is original and is starting to sag a bit. ~The car runs and drives great! Engine always starts right up. No smoke or funny noises. Cruises down the freeway all day long at 75mph. Transmission shifts smooth. Brakes and clutch are good. Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive

Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.
Volkswagen to add 50k jobs by 2018
Thu, 04 Apr 2013Volkswagen still has its eyes set on becoming the top global automaker by 2018, and to get there, it's apparently going to need more boots on the ground. Automotive News Europe is reporting that VW is looking to increase its staff by 50,000 over the next five years - an increase of nine percent - which does not include an increase in its US dealer network.
According to the report, a majority of the growth will come from China where the automaker is also looking to double its production capacity in the same time frame. The Volkswagen Group is already expected to rival General Motors for the top sales spot in China this year, and such a rapid expansion in the region could make a good springboard for sales increases in other countries.

Let's have some fun, and do some math. We're talking pretty rudimentary stuff, multiplication and division, to figure out if the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid can make a baseline case for itself against two very strong competitors in this segment. The competitors in question, at least for now, are two more Jettas: the diesel-drinking TDI and the fit-for-the-masses SE with VW's long-serving 2.5-liter engine.
To keep the equations clean and simple (hey, we're writers), we'll calculate based on the most flattering EPA miles per gallon stat from highway driving for all cars, assume a healthy 20,000 miles driven per year, and factor in today's average cost for the respective fuels these three require: diesel (TDI), regular (SE) and premium (Hybrid). We'll also start with the base prices for all models.
