2004 Volvo xc90 2.5T

Description

This is a 5-passenger model. Silver metallic over Black leather.

This model comes with very handsome 18" "Atlantis" alloy wheels that were a premium option on the Volvo xc90 T6.

Other premium options include factory high intensity discharge headlamps (Xenon gas bulbs) for the low and high beams. front and rear fog lamps, rear parking sensors,  power sunroof, dual-stage heated and power seats for the driver and passenger, DSC, 6-disc in-dash CD player with Dolby premium sound (the speakers have a subwoofer and SURROUND sound), dual climate control with crisp-cold A/C and warm heat, leather steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, gorgeous wood grain trim, etc. The gas tank is huge (approx. 19 gallons), and the 5-cyl turbo is powerful enough to lug this beast around while still getting decent mileage. Based on the on-board computer, it average about 18 MPG in the city and the highway. The engine runs beautifully and the gears shift well.

History

I'm the third owner of this car. I bought this car in September of 2013 with around 178,000 miles on it. Since owning this car my mechanic, a certified volvo/bmw mechanic, replaced both front and rear brakes as well as the steering column. I was able to do a full synthetic oil change around 178,000.  The tires have good tread.  The previous owner replaced stabilizer links (L and R) in June of 2013. The engine runs smoothly. Gears shift well. Suspension is good. Mechanically its sound.

Other Notes

-The front hub bearing may need to be replaced in the future.

-On the upper left fender there is dent. It was there when I bought it.

-Driver's seat does need restitching. Not very noticeable. I will include wax thread and needle.

-Comes with a one switchblade key fob with remote,  owners manuals and supplemental readings, universal roof rack crossbars, an cargo net.

Polestar says goodbye to Volvo C30 in video tribute

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

The Volvo C30 was put to its eternal bed a few months ago, but the tuners at Polestar have a little more eulogizing to do. The Swedish house of speed that has raced and reworked the little hatch since its introduction in 2006 wants the world to know what they've been through together, so it has encapsulated seven years of around-the-world action into three minutes and 28 seconds of track footage and champagne.
We're still waiting on word of a replacement for the funny little hatch, and while we lament what could have been, the video below proves that the C30 provided plenty of thrills for those outside of the US. And as you can read in our recent review of the Polestar-enhanced road-going C30, it provided a decent amount of fun for those of us in the States, as well.

US could get Chinese Volvos soon, possibly Geely joint-venture subcompact?

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

After a little more than three years since Volvo was acquired by China's Geely, it was only a matter of time before products from this marriage started to show up in the US. Although nothing seems to be written in stone, Automotive News is reporting that the US could be getting Chinese-made Volvos sooner rather than later.
In speaking with AN, Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said that Chinese Volvos could be exported to the US "fairly quickly," and while there was no word on any specific models being considered, the article points out that the S60 (shown above) is already being produced locally in China at a Volvo plant. Another possibility is the next-gen V40, which has reportedly received plenty of support from US Volvo dealers. Regardless of which model it is, Samuelsson doesn't seem too worried about a "Made in China" car receiving a negative reaction by US consumers, pointing to all the other Chinese products sold here.
On a global scale, AN is also reporting that Geely is working on a new subcompact platform co-developed with Volvo to compete against cars like the Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta and VW Polo. There is no word as to whether or not this Geely-branded model would be coming to the US, but just last year, we heard that the Chinese automaker is looking to break into the US market by 2016.

Leno drives Volvo P1800 from Roger Moore's The Saint

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

Outside of a few notable exceptions, Volvo usually isn't associated with making beautifully curvaceous vehicles. But in the 1960s and early '70s the company proved with the P1800 that its cars didn't only have to be safe but staid family transportation. Underneath that shapely styling were a lot of components from the brand's parts bin, but that didn't bother Roger Moore when he drove one of these in the TV series The Saint. Actually, the future James Bond actor didn't just get behind of one of these; he owned this exact 1967 P1800 S. It's this week's highlight on Jay Leno's Garage.
Moore was the car's original owner, but it also appeared in studio scenes of The Saint. Despite its famous provenance, when owner Bill Krzastek bought the P1800 in England, it was in pretty rough shape. The Volvo underwent a nine-month restoration to get it back into shape, which included some new body panels and wheels. Krzastek claims that much of the interior is original, though.
Krzastek comes off has a little bit nerdy, but you have to give him credit. He absolutely loves his Volvo and knows something about practically every detail of his car's history. Krzastek even refinanced his house to fund the purchase and restoration of the P1800. Although, with the right maintenance these old Swedes have been known to go millions of miles. Enjoy this look at one that was a star of the screen in the '60s.
