Meticulously maintained real US model Type-R, #269 of only 1027 produced this year, and of approx. 1400 total ever made in the classic Championship White.  Clean title, not a salvage!  Never crashed, never broken into.

What can I say, it's just time.  Though I'm the third owner, I've owned this car for over 11 years now, and I need to move on.  As you can see from the pictures, it's been in active competition in SCCA Solo racing (aka autocross), where it has a long winning history, with three National Tour wins, a Divisional series win, and more.  The car comes with Simpson five-point harnesses for the driver and front passenger (they clip out and fold beneath the seats so you don't have to use them on the street), a Valentine One radar locator with custom hard mount, hard-wired power, and remote display mounted under speedo, a custom fit Block-It Evolution car cover (essential for SECURITY, not just paint protection), plus factory service manual and many spare parts.  Extra rims and tires, for both competition and street, are available as well (though not included in the bid price).

Deep maintenance history with all receipts for the last ten-plus years included -- a stack almost two inches thick -- and a one-page quick-reference summary!  Front brake pads and rotors, and all front suspension bushings replaced in the last year.  Clutch and catalytic converter replaced, and shocks rebuilt and revalved in the last two years.  Motor has only 55k miles on it, and was rebuilt by Bill Brown at AEBS specifically to SCCA Solo stock rules, with all factory parts.  Motor was rebuilt in the original block, and is numbers-matching. This is as hot an engine as you're going to get SCCA stock legal!  Shocks are Koni yellows, revalved by ProParts specifically for SCCA stock class Solo racing.  Other than that, this car is bone stock and unmolested.

Comes ready to go with all the consumables race quality -- oil pan is full of Royal Purple 5W30 full synthetic, transmission is full of Redline MTL, brake fluid resevoir full of Motul RBF600, and Hawk HPS brake pads ready at all four corners.  The street tires the car comes with are Dunlop Direzza DZ-101s with about 2000 miles on them and >80% tread remaining.  Competition tires are also available separately.

These cars are rare enough in any condition to begin with, but you just won't find another this clean, original, and well maintained anywhere.  Treasure it as your unicorn, or continue its racing history and take over D-Stock in SCCA Solo competition with it!

Please see the following video for more views of the car:

In person inspection and test drive is available by appointment in the vicinity of Vista, CA 92084.  Please contact me to arrange.

Summary page of full maintenance history, containing date and mileage of all items, can also be sent to interested bidders through eBay's message system.  Please contact me if you'd like to receive that.

For those of you who saw this car listed earlier and are wondering what happened, the buyer backed out at the last minute.  The day before he was supposed to sign the loan paperwork, he found out his wife is pregnant, decided he couldn't afford both a kid and his dream car, and canceled the whole deal.  The auction ended at $12,500.  I'll take the first offer that matches that price.

Honda CEO says we shouldn't expect any new sports cars

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

It wasn't so long ago that Honda was known for its sporty two-door models, with models ranging from the Civic del Sol to the Prelude and from the Acura Integra and RSX to the Honda S2000. But look at its range today and all you'll see are the Civic and Accord coupes. Honda has essentially let competitors like the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ and Nissan 370Z take the place it once claimed as its own. But if you were hoping Honda would fight back with a new coupe or convertible of its own, we're afraid you're going to have to downgrade those hopes to pipe dreams.
While in Japan ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show, Autoblog had a chance to sit down with American Honda CEO Tetsuo Iwamura (pictured at right). When we asked about the potential for a new sports coupe or convertible in the Honda or Acura lineup, he pointed to the current Civic and Accord coupes - not to mention the upcoming new NSX - but said that Honda has no replacement for any of the aforementioned models (or a rival for the FR-S or 370Z) in the pipeline, saying only that the company is monitoring potential demand.
What Iwamura-san did note was that he's a personal fan of the new S660 roadster (pictured above) set to be unveiled tomorrow, and he is pushing (or at least hoping) that it will come to North America. Given that he's head of both Honda's American office and its global automobile operations, one might think that the only person he would have to persuade is himself (well... himself, and potential buyers), but the sporty droptop looks to be about kei-sized, which sadly suggests that it may be too small for American tastes and perhaps not designed with US crash-test standards in mind anyway.

Ludacris discusses Fast and Furious 7 and his 1993 Acura Legend

Tue, 13 May 2014

It's easy to think of most wealthy celebrities as egotistical, materialistic individuals who own a Ferrari for every day of the week. The reality, though, is often much less severe. See, they can get attached to things, like cars, just like normal folks. Take Alfred Morris, for example. A 22-year-old running back with the Washington Redskins. Morris still drives the 1991 Mazda 626 that he had in college, despite a healthy $2.2 million contract.
Rapper/actor Ludacris is an even more extreme example of automotive loyalty. With an estimated net worth of over $70 million, Luda has the money for his own private plane. Yet that wealth doesn't stop him from regularly driving the 1993 Acura Legend he has had since before he found fame.
Ludacris, whose real name is Chris Bridges, recently discussed his old Acura during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneris Show to promote his new album. It sounds like he's put 10,000 miles on the trusty sedan since it last popped up online less than a year ago, so it's pretty clear that he drives it on the regular. In fact, Ludacris says he still pens new songs sitting inside it, just like he used to back in the day when he was starting out.

Acura launches NSX colorizer on Facebook

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Automakers typically wait until their new car is actually released to roll out an online configurator interface, but Acura isn't waiting around. Instead it has launched a configurator for the upcoming NSX that's still in the concept phase.
Well, sorta. The online tool launched on Facebook in question isn't a full configurator in that it doesn't let you swap the wheels, install any options or even look into the cabin, let alone customize it. What it does let you do is view the NSX concept from one of three angles and select a color from either an array of presets or from anywhere in the RGB spectrum. We settled on the deep metallic green hue above - what color would you choose?
