1988 Buick Reatta Base Coupe 2-door 3.8l Rare Factory Striping 130k Miles on 2040-cars
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
The car starts right up, runs and drives great. Transmission shifts properly and I trust the car on a long drive. This is a fine collectible car with 130,000 miles on it, and the interior is very nice for its age. The car is not cosmetically PERFECT, there is some light damage to the front left and some normal wear and tear inside and out.
Be aware - Right front headlight flips up only sometimes. Digital Speedometer is not working ($265 quote from an online repair facility). Cruise control is not working. AC needs recharged. Light damage to front left. Cracked windshield. Tires have decent tread and under 50 MPH the car rides as smooth as glass but after 50 there is some shaking due to flat spots from the car sitting. What I've said is what I know and if there is anything else I have either forgotten or missed it. It really is a nice car for the money and I know this color combo with the gold wheels has to be rare. The CRT touchscreen works great and I think you will really enjoy the car! If you have any questions or would like to see it in person please let me know. Thanks! |

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Buick might be getting a logo makeover
Fri, 23 Nov 2012General Motors has finished off an extensive model overhaul for its Buick division, but along with its updated cars, the brand might also be getting a new logo. According to the Detroit Free Press, GM North America President Mark Reuss indicated that the Buick tri-shield logo could be getting a makeover, but offered no further information.
It is unlikely Buick will completely redesign or replace its current logo, but the article seems to indicate that it might return to color; although all chrome now, the logo used to feature red, white and blue shields. Head on over to the Detroit Free Press article to look at some past Buick logos including one from 1904.
GM laying off 510 amidst slow Cadillac, small car sales
Wed, 12 Nov 2014General Motors is laying off about 510 workers from two factories beginning in January, and it could be months before the automaker needs some of that latent capacity to come back on line. A combination of poor sales and high dealer inventories are prompting the cutbacks, according to Automotive News.
The largest changes come at GM's Lansing Grand River plant, where the Cadillac ATS and CTS are made. An entire shift of about 350 workers is being laid off, but the automaker hopes to find positions for some of them at other nearby factories. The decision leaves just a single shift building vehicles there. According to Automotive News, the move is partially spurred by Johan de Nysschen's plan to make Cadillac a more exclusive brand.
The lost shift will likely return for production of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro at the plant, according to the report, but GM isn't saying when that will be. A previous announcement from the Canadian Auto Workers union indicated that the Oshawa, Ontario, factory would lose the coupe in late 2015 or early 2016.
