For sale is a 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS 427 convertible. This was the first year for the 427. It is a rare original
car with original build sheet, currently has 28,417 miles. The car was stored since 1980 until I bought it in 2007,
with 21,810 miles on it.
The car was stored in a garage for 27 years when I put it back on the road. It has not been restored. I did not
have any paint work or chroming done. Just lots of cleaning and polishing. I wanted to present the car the way it
was. The top was replaced about 2 years ago.
To get it back on the road the following was done: New gas tank and sending unit, new stainless fuel and brake
lines. The entire brake system was done, car still has 4 wheel drum non-power brakes. Radiator was sent out to be
flushed and cleaned, belts, hoses, water pump, fuel pump where replaced. Rebuilt carb and tuned it up. Before
engine was started, cylinders were oiled, engine was tuned by hand and oil pump was primed, not just gas and a
battery. New exhaust with turbo mufflers. The entire front end was rebuilt after about 1000 miles, which included
ball joints, control arm bushings, inner/outer tie rod ends, etc. The car has been PA inspected every year and
currently is. Have put nearly 7,000 miles on it with no issues.
The car is a nice for car cruises, but not a show car. It is is very solid, including frame and floors. It does
have a few rust spots, one at bottom of each quarter panel and the other is inside the trunk lid. Please see the
pictures I have included. The under side is very solid, but in driver condition. The car looks to have been
repainted at some point in time prior to 1980. The paint still shows well, but does have some dings, crazing, etc.
It is a factory black car. The interior is completely original and in very nice condition.
The options include SS package, power windows and top, gauge package, factory four speaker stereo with center
console controls, automatic, 4 way flashers, and the 390 hp 427. See attached picture of build sheet. Please
contact me for any additional photos or info. Thanks for looking.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.

2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed - Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.
Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.
They'll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now's a good time to start practicing your box-checking.
