1969 Chevy El Camino Malibu, 350 engine, auto trans, factory A/C, Power disc brakes, Power steering, Rally wheels. All the A/C parts are there and the pump turns well. Owner had died but family said it ran and worked, AC too, when left in shed. Just not pretty. California El Camino in barn storage for over 10 years. Ready for restoration. Just pulled it out. Gassed it up, new battery and it fired up. Had to jump the ignition wire. Goes through the gears fine. NO BRAKES yet, so you can't safely drive the truck. Need to have it shipped or picked up with trailer. Rather solid California Truck throughout. Ready for restoration. See pics of standard rust areas that develop under rear window trim and a couple spots on front fender rear tips, no holes yet. That's all I can see. Bed, floors, rockers all solid. Do a weekend of work and drive as-is, or take time and restore it. Need to sell it as-is for this kind of money. Make sure it is the 69 elco you have been looking for. No regrets please. I have a 100% feedback for being fair and leaving room for buyers to do a little work and sell it again. Buy it now? Well, I am always interested in hearing what you think it is worth to you. Located in Southern California. Clear title in hand. Can store for 30 days while you find transportation. Most of the cars I find get sold to east coasters. They like solid California cars. |

New Chevrolet Silverado to be revealed on Facebook on Thursday
Tue, 11 Dec 2012There's not much to see here, but if you're one of those waiting for the reveal of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, above is the teaser image that Chevrolet posted on its Facebook page. We've seen the truck in form-fitting camo before, and even less can be made out here beyond those seriously punchy Silverado-esque fenders and the knowledge that the projector-beam headlamps teased previously do indeed work. We'll have to wait until Thursday for a full perusal of the "bold exterior design" and "careful attention given to every detail" we've been promised.
Gathering intel and rumors, magnesium and aluminum contribute to the Silverado's weight loss plan, the purported "High Country" top-tier trim will contribute to luxury pickup truck competition and profit margins and the next-generation small-block V8 will contribute to improved fuel economy. On the engine note, there have been rumors of available V6 engines, and when Facebook user John Jones asked "Where's your answer to that EcoBoost Chevy?", the Bowtie replied "stay tuned on the 13th. We think you'll be pleased...".
Along with the "Raise the Bar" tag, Chevrolet says of the Silverado, "You asked, we delivered." You can watch the reveal live on Chevrolet's Facebook page at 9:30 am EST, this Thursday, December 13. The GMC Sierra 1500 will also be there, and we'll see both in person at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
