1968 Chevy C/10 Truck - Numbers Matching on 2040-cars
Huntington Beach, California, United States
Rare 1968 Chevy Truck - Original Matching Numbers. This is a cool truck that I drive every day, with 142,000 miles. The paint job was done about 6 years ago, prior to me buying it. It is a PPG two stage paint, but not a show paint job. As I said, I drive the truck every day, so it has a scratch here and there. However, the truck is from the desert, and not a rust bucket. The guy I bought the truck from, bought it from the original owner, who had bought it at the local dealership. The truck was not driven a ton as the 142,000 are original, and this town was out in the middle of nowhere. I bought it due to the fact it had not been cut-up, and all of the original stuff was there. When we pulled the motor to rebuild it, we could not believe all of the original parts down to the 1968 water pump and alternator made it all those years. The truck is not perfect, but turns a lot of heads, and very close to all original. If I were able to keep the truck, I would probably have the paint color sanded and rebuild the front suspension. The truck drives great, but everything else on the truck is new. I am selling as I bought a new truck to drive every day, and I have a couple of other classic cars. I need to pull a trailer sometimes, and I do not want to destroy this truck. I would not be afraid to drive this truck across country, it is very dependable. The engine rebuild was done about 6k miles ago, by a very reputable local engine rebuilder. The 327 and original quadrajet purrs like a kitten. I put a new master cylinder on it, but had the original rebuilt that comes with it. It has a custom fit cover that comes with it also. I have title in hand, and a binder full of receipts the new owner can have. Please contact me with questions, and feel free to see the truck in person. As with all 45 year old cars, there is no warranty, and buyer buys as is, and responsible for shipping. (although I will help if needed to be at a terminal, etc.) |

Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump
Mon, 11 Feb 2013To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again
Wed, 13 Mar 2013One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
