1969 Chrysler Newport 2 Door Coupe.

I'm selling this to move on to another project.  The car is a real attention grabber anywhere I take it, and a rare large coupe. (19ft)

Exterior
 - Exterior paint restoration done under 5 years ago.  Waxed yearly to keep finish.
 - Original chrome bumpers show some pitting from age.  (see close up photo of front bumper)
 - Front grill trim has a little bend in it.
 - Rear quarter lowers are starting to have a little rust bubbling.  (see close up photos)

Interior
 - Original seat upholstery.  Front seat has tear in fabric, I've covered it with a beautiful Mexican blanket (included)
 - Headliner and rear window deck have been reupholstered in black/dark grey Suede.
 - Has wiring for radio, no radio installed at this time.
 - Engine temp guage installed in lower dash

Engine and drivetrain
 - Currently has a 318ci engine installed.  Runs great, performs well with the following modifications.
 - New Holley Carb, Edelbrock intake, Headers, 340ci cylinder heads, Mopar purple cam
 - Newer radiator and alternator
 - Rear differential pinion bearing has had a whine since the car has been in my family, I flushed the fluid last month and replaced the seal.  Pinion bearing may need adjustment or replacement
 - Transmission shifts well in all forward gears, has a little clunk when you select reverse.

Everything Else
 - Heater core re-done last year, blower fan only works in high position
 - 4 New BF goodrich Radial tires with less than 1000 miles on them.
 - Alignment done with tires.
 - Power drum brakes that stop very well.

I am willing to sell the car internationally if the buyer arranges shipping.  I must speak to the buyer in person within 48 to aviod any possible scamming.

Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."

Chrysler 'at war' with world's largest Viper club?

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

The situation was bound to boil over at some point. Grumblings from former and current members of the Viper Club of America, and letters sent from Chrysler to VCA president Lee Stubberfield, allege that the non-profit club is being run illegally as a for-profit business, Jalopnik reports.
The trouble reportedly started in 2007, when VCA member and former club national president Chris Marshall is alleged to have taken a paid position at the club courtesy of the acting board members at the time. By 2010, with the demise of the Dodge Viper looming, the VCA reportedly made a deal with Chrysler to to acquire a stash of old parts and tooling for the Viper. The stash would then be sold by the newly formed Viper Parts of America, a company that was supposed to be run by Marshall, Jalopnik reports.
This sounds like shady business to us - at the very least a conflict of interest. And it's said that the VCA will not hesitate to suspend - for a year or more - the memberships of those who oppose it.

2013 Ram HD and Chassis Cab pickups are ready for work [UPDATE]

Thu, 27 Sep 2012

Auto enthusiasts often point to the pony car wars as the last bastion of one-upsmanship among Detroit's automakers, but the truth is, the pickup wars are every bit as competitive - if not more so. Auburn Hills keeps a ready eye on what their rivals in Dearborn and Detroit are doing, and vice-versa. Today, that battle is renewed with the introduction of Ram's 2013 Heavy Duty and Chassis Cab lines at the State Fair of Texas. Why a state fair? The Banner State is the perfect battleground for pickup supremacy, as Texas accounts for one of every five pickups sold in the U.S.
Towing and hauling metrics are poised for a substantial improvement. "... and not just by a little bit."
On the HD front, Chrysler is boasting that its brand-new heavies will bring best-in-class towing, torque, payload and Gross Combined Weight Rating, but thus far, it's declining to cite what those figures are. For the moment, though, Fred Diaz, President and CEO of Ram told us at an Auburn Hills background event earlier this month that key towing and hauling metrics are poised for a substantial improvement. "And not just by a little bit. I think we're going to shock the world," said Diaz.
