Gaylord, Michigan, United States

This Auction is for a 1961 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door Club Victoria that was assembled in Norfolk, VA. The Odometer shows 51,900 miles and I believe it to be accurate. This car runs & drives but WILL need a restoration to be dependable & safe. The Glass is all original with no cracks, interior code is Red Shimmer & in good condition. The original body color is Raven Black, the body is in good condition with minor bubbling around the rear wheel well area. the Trunk pan has been replaced 20 years ago, floor pan, doors, fenders, hood, frame, trunk lid are ALL SOLID....body looks to have been repainted along time ago and will need to be professionally redone for show quality. This Z code Galaxie 500 retains the 390 HP (375hp) with all the original trimmings.... Carb, Cast Headers, Aluminum intake, 15' wheels, Heavy duty brakes & bigger fuel lines, Valve covers & Air cleaner. The transmission is a 3 speed Manual shift on the column which works fine. This is a RARE car that also retains the Dealer Optional Aluminum TRI POWER setup to give this old HOT ROD 401HP.... that has NEVER been bolted on an engine. These cars were built to race in 1961 and would run the 1/4 mile around 13 sec.!!

Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

Ford has announced a major recall of 850,000 vehicles from model years 2013 and 2014 due to a problem with the "restraints control module."
According to Ford, a short circuit could develop in the module, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. In more severe cases, dependent on where the short develops, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may not work in the event of an accident. The problems can be more wide-ranging than that, too, as systems that rely on information from the control module, such as the stability control can be affected.
With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-Max MPV.

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).

Ford forced to recall Escape over fire risk yet again

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

Recalls happen. Automakers hope they won't, but they do. And that's alright, for the most part, because cars are designed (and to a large degree still made) by humans, and humans make mistakes. So we forgive them, as long as the problem is resolved. Only in the case of the Ford Escape, the problem seems to keep coming back.
That's why Ford is calling in the Escape yet again due to fire concerns. The issue revolves around problematic fuel lines in 9,469 units manufactured between October 5, 2011, and July 11, 2012, all of which use the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine.
As you yourself may recall, the Escape was subject to a string of recalls last year that resulted in a $17 million fine. One of them was over this very same issue, which Ford apparently didn't rectify the first time around. Let's hope this time is the last time.
