Official Pace Car of 1968 Indianapolis 500

1968 Ford Torino GT Convertible.

This is a beautifully restored 1968 Indy 500 pace car. Of the 159 cars built for Duties in the 500, This is a 1 of 12 car to have the 390 engine. The only car to come with a factory 6000 rpm tachometer, and 1 of 5 with blue interior. Car has a DSO code which indicates it was a "special" build and ship. Built in Lorraine Ohio and shipped to Indianapolis.

After purchasing car from 2nd owner, I had the car rotisserie restored then repainted in the original Wimbledon white, then meticulously reassembled using as many Original parts as possible. This car was a major restoration, nothing was over looked and no expense spared !!! Including NOS head rest that were specific for the indy pace car Torino. A amazing find and they are on the car.

Some modifications have been done, Rebuilding the 390 adding a period correct 3-2 intake manifold, The motor rebuild was done the correct way. Strong enough to race down the track and be pushed back in your seat, and reliable enough drive every day. Gear reduction starter, and converted to a 4 speed with NOS parts, Painless wiring harness and Front coil over struts with 2 piston front disc calipers added during the restoration. Just over 1000 miles since total restoration.

Complete Marti-report included in sale, also a follow up letter from Kevin Marti stating the car was purpose built for the 500 and not one of the Replica cars built by the dealers after the running of the 1968 Indy 500 (see Photos). This car is truly a beautiful piece of Indianapolis 500 history. Amazing to drive and always a head turner.

Have original Intake and Air cleaner as well as a few other bits that go with sale of car.

Ford says C-Max mpg reduction has hurt sales

The Ford C-Max is having a rough time. Sales for the five-door hybrid hatchback were down 39.1 percent in March to 2,295 cars, and sales from January through March were down 42.5 percent to 5,566 units. In an interview with The Detroit News, Ford Americas boss Joe Hinrichs places the blame on lowering the model's fuel economy rating.
"We're definitely seeing consideration on C-Max decline over time. We need to reinvest in the product because it's a great car," said Hinrichs to The Detroit News.
The company was hit with bad publicity over the C-Max when owners in multiple states filed class action lawsuits that alleged the cars weren't able to meet the stated fuel economy. Ford eventually re-rated the model from 47 miles per gallon city, highway and combined to 40 mpg city, 45 mpg highway and 43 mpg combined. To soften the blow of the change, the automaker sent checks to the owners to make up some of the difference. Initially, Ford claimed that demand remained strong for the hybrid. However, the latest sales figures and Hinrichs' statement seem to show the opposite.

2015 Ford Mustang spied on video for the first time

Not many cars will continue to hold our rapt attention quite like the upcoming redesigned 2015 Ford Mustang, codenamed S550 internally. Earlier this month, we brought you the first spy photos of a next-gen Mustang prototype out testing, and even though expertly placed cladding concealed the pony car's new shape, we could tell that underneath was hiding an altogether new form inspired by the Evos Concept from 2011.
Today we give you some video of what looks to be the same Mustang prototype, which you can watch below, and while the budding director behind the camera wasn't able to capture much in the way of the engine's audio signature, we can see the car in motion for the first time and compare its relative size and shape to the S197 Mustang GT that's on its tail.
