1970 Ford Torino Rare, 4 Speed, Restored, Marti-report on 2040-cars

Up for sale is my 1970 Ford Torino.  It was just completely redone. Interior, exterior, drivetrain as good and in many cases better than new.  I am putting a down payment on a piece of property so it has to go.  It has a full Marti report that details just how rare it is.

The engine was rebuilt with 2V heads for streatability bolted to the stock 1V intake.  The block was bored 30 over with TRW forged pistons and ARP rod bolts.  The cam is a Comp Cam 270 with matching springs, keepers and retainers.  Also hardened 5/16 pushrods, crane guide plates and steel roller tip rocker arms were installed.  It has new belts, new radiator hoses and a new 4 core radiator.  The 4 speed transmission was fully rebuilt and at that time a new pressure plate and clutch were installed. The brakes have been completely serviced.  The power steering pump was also rebuilt.

The exterior speaks for itself.  We went with grabber orange and satin black for the hood and rear stripes. They were professionally painted on not decals.  The paint job is flawless and not much body work had to happen as it was originally from the pacific northwest with 41000 actual miles and not rusty.  The under side of the car was also painted black.  The bumpers are brand new as are the wheels and tires.  I have most all receipts for the work and new parts.

The carpet is new, seats professionally redone, new headliner,  new door panels all the gauges and lights work, etc.  We put new springs in the rear and new shocks in the front.  While we were at it we also lowered the car from stock a couple inches for the look and ride quality.  Then exhaust is custom Masterflow that crosses in an x pattern than tucks up nice neat and sounds awesome.

The car runs out and drives beautifully.  Im going to hate to see it go.  It doesn't have a radio.  It is wired up and has new speakers I just never got around to putting a radio in it.  There are two small pieces of chrome on the rear of the window that could use re chroming.  Those are really the only issues I can think of with the car.  You are basically buying a 100 % restored and completed muscle car ready for a show or to hit the streets as soon as you get it.

Thanks for looking and feel free to call or email with any questions

Vaughn Gittin Jr. takes his dog for a drift

Tue, 09 Sep 2014

Vaughn Gittin Jr. spends a great deal of his workday going sideways, but he's usually alone in the endeavor. For a guy that is clearly a dog lover, we imagine that can get a bit lonely.
That won't be a problem for Gittin in this latest video, which features the racer hanging out with his good pal Brody (a dog) and everyone's favorite hot hatch, the Ford Fiesta ST.

Saleen SA-30 Mustang, Camaro and Challenger help celebrate the big 3-0

Fri, 22 Nov 2013

After 30 years of tuning performance cars and building racecars, Saleen is celebrating its racing heritage with a limited-production car line called SA-30. Based on the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, Saleen will only build 10 of each SA-30 model at a base price of $95,000.
For that money, buyers will get upgraded suspension, brakes and engines, and while the power figures have not been released for the SA-30 620 Camaro and SA-30570 Challenger models, the SA-30 302 Mustang will be the top performer with 625 horsepower. Each car will be painted up in a custom pearl white hue with black and yellow accents, and get white wheels shrouding yellow powder-coated brake calipers. Inside, the SA-30 offerings will all get a proper Saleen interior with black leather and white Alcantara on the seats, along with the expected smattering of SA-30 badges.
On all three SA-30 models, customers will have various options available to further customize their cars, including a rear-seat delete option that transforms each car's cabin into a race-inspired interior with a chassis-strengthening rear cross brace. Perhaps the coolest feature of all, though, is the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass that is an option on the SA-30 302 Mustang. Similar to the Mercedes Sky Control roof first introduced on the Mercedes SLK, the Saleen Frost-Touch Glass allows the Mustang's optional glass roof and rear window to be switched from transparent to opaque at the push of a button.

Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).
