1983 Big  Bronco that we've owned for over 10 years.  Was daily driver until youngest son left for college.  Most everything has been repaired, replaced or rebuilt over the last couple of years.  Excellent daily driver that is also excellent off road or in the mud.

A few more details - as far as we know this has been an Oklahoma / Texas truck since originally sold in Edmond Oklahoma.

Rust - None that I know of.  There was some rust on the passenger front floor which was cut out and replaced, and the tailgate was rusted (pretty common for this model).  The tailgate was replaced with a new tailgate from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard before the truck was re-painted.  One dime sized rust bubble in rain guard rail.

Dent's & Dings - It's a 30 year old truck so there are some - body is not perfect.  Dent on passenger door upper frame from it being pushed when closing.  Front bumper dented from someone putting a tow strap around it to pull someone out.  There is also a dent on the passenger rear quarter where the spare tire support hit it when being opened.

Mechanical - Motor and Transmission rebuilt within last 1000 miles.  New drive-shaft and u joints at same time.  Rebuilt carburetor, rodded radiator, new fuel pump (2), new water pump, new brakes.  Six inch lift, with new shocks and springs and 35" pro-comp mud terrains - probably 2000 miles on those.  A/C all original and working, Radio / speakers / amp all aftermarket.  Transfer case, front hubs, differential and front end all original.  The one thing that will need attention, that we just never got to is the front end - it's loose, and while the steering box has been replaced she needs new tie rod ends, ball joints and bushings in the front end.

Interior - The interior has been re-done - the flooring was replaced with rubber floor from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard.  The quarter panels in the rear were re-done covered with vinyl and the seats are covered in saddle blanket aftermarket seat covers designed to fit this model.  Dash also has a new dash pad cover that is hard to distinguish from the original.

Watch how Ford torture-tested the 2015 F-150

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling truck in the United States for the past 37 years, and the best-selling vehicle outright for the past 32. That's quite a legacy, and thus, it's no surprise that Ford worked super-duper-extra hard on creating the all-new, aluminum-bodied 2015 F-150 that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
During an event at the company's headquarters in Dearborn, MI this week, we were able to see all of the ways that Ford endurance tests, not just the new F-150, but all of its vehicles. From examining things like light exposure to interior materials and paint finishes, to making sure that corrosion absolutely does not happen when steel components come in contact with aluminum panels in the new truck. The goal: ensure that the new F-150 is nothing short of "Built Ford Tough."
But that's only a small part of the story. Of course, the new F-150 has to be able to withstand whatever a pickup buyer might throw at it - and truck buyers arguably demand the most from their vehicles. So in an effort to convey just what the new F-150 had to go through before being given the final go-ahead, Ford has released a series of videos, showing how its new halo truck was indeed torture tested.

Focus ST diesel variant coming, just don't look for it here

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

A few years back, Volkswagen made some waves when it announced the Golf GTD - a diesel-powered car that, aside from its ultra-efficient, ultra-torquey engine, was identical to the gas-powered GTI. That meant cosseting sport seats, larger wheels, sportier suspension, larger brakes and a body kit that made the GTD indistinguishable from the GTI, except for the three little letters on the back and in the grille.
Now, Ford is looking to replicate VW's success, with a diesel version of the Focus ST. According to Motor Trend, the diesel-powered ST will use a 2.0-liter, 182-horsepower four-cylinder. With an unspecified amount of torque on offer (we'd guess around 280 pound-feet), the diesel hot hatch should hit 62 miles per hour in about eight seconds.
The report, which originally comes from Auto Express, claims the ST Diesel was confirmed by Ford Chief Marketing Officer Mark Fields during this week's Geneva Motor Show. Not surprisingly, it doesn't appear there are any plans to bring a diesel-powered Focus of any kind to the US, let alone one that uses the suspension, steering and other items from the ST. Of course, if there's an official confirmation from Ford, we'll be sure to report on it.

Ford F-150 Tremor to pace NASCAR Truck Series this weekend

Wed, 14 Aug 2013

Ford's bro-tastic F-150 Tremor will be pacing this weekend's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Michigan International Speedway. The Tremor fills a gap in the Ford F-Series lineup that we imagine the NASCAR set have clamored for - a hot-rod pickup truck.
Where the F-150 Raptor is designed to go quick on anything, the Tremor and its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 are designed to tackle the road. The 365-horsepower and 420-pound-foot EcoBoost is unchanged from the rest of the F-150 line, but it combines the shortest drive ratio with the lightest two-door body, making it a bit of hot rod.
Ford will be offering hot laps with Michigan native Brad Keselowski behind the wheel of the Tremor for fans that arrive in the Irish Hills on August 14. The main showing for the new pickup will be the August 17 race, though, when it'll lead the field at the start of the race and through cautions.
