Up for auction is this rare survivor. It is a 1968 FORD FAIRLANE with 57,285 miles. The paint, engine, interior, roof liner, trunk interior..are all original.The interior is original white vinyl as is the white cloth roof liner. The liner needs a little attention but still looks good. The car does have a new green vinyl top in its original color. This car from the history i know, was purchased new in Chicago, Il.. The original owner used it for a short time before moving to Florida. It spent the last 40+ years in Florida mostly in storage after the owner passed away. I have tried to show via the pics as much to the actual car.The car has new tires, new dual exhaust, and new brakes. The car runs and drives great and needs nothing. Hubcaps are original as well. Inside the glove is a brand new Jensen radio/cassette player. The original am radio is still in its original place. Some minor rust can be seen but it is surface rust in most cases. The body and frame is remarkably clean and solid. As a survivor this car is ready to go. The engine and compartment are original and without rust as is the interior of the trunk. Paint is thin in some areas due to its age and i am sure waxing it. The worst rust is shown it the pic of the passenger right wheel well area. Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models
Fri, 30 Aug 2013The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
NHTSA releases updated Takata airbag recalled cars list, but it still has errors

Unfortunately, the government's list still contains errors.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued an updated list of vehicle models that it's urging owners to repair under the mushrooming Takata airbag inflator recall. The latest version adds vehicles from new automakers like Subaru and Ford that are missing from the original announcement, and it also removes erroneous entries from General Motors, leaving only the 2005 Saab 9-2X (a reskinned Subaru WRX), and the 2003-2005 Pontiac Vibe, a joint project with Toyota.
Ford Focus Electric and ST recalled over lighting issue
Mon, 12 Aug 2013Ford is recalling 6,308 units of the 2012 and 2013 Focus Electric and 2013 Focus ST that were fitted with HID headlights because a "wiring incompatibility" could keep the front side marker lights from working. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall should begin in the middle of this month, after which owners can take their cars to dealers to have the wiring assembly repaired free of charge.
