1947 Ford Ratrod Truck, Slash Music Machine. She's Just Plain Ole Coool on 2040-cars

This is a running and driving, 1947 Ford Pickup . This One of a kind truck was designed originally for a member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and as you can see from the flyers, and stickers and autographed hub caps has been to many a concert and show. I also have the original cab visor, it's in last picture. Just drove her around lake then took pics, so that's what she looks like after weekend of cruising and rewiring it. Could of washed her, but anyone can post a pretty pic, these are real pics for a real Ratrod cruiser.

1947 Ford
1.) Plain Satin Black paint job,
2.) Sound Flathead six
3.) Electrical system converted to 12 volt
4.) Interior completely covered in sound proof / heat shield
5.) Original seat mounts rebuilt
6.) BEd Rebuilt with 2" tubing
7.) Pioneer CD player JBL speakers
8.) Good tires
9.) fresh brakes
10.) 36 inch Ludwig bass drum for fenders
11.) Zildjian Cymbals for hub Caps
12.) The cymbal bag holds the x tire iron
13.) Original G Series Flathead

The bed wood cross member supports are rebuilt along with the bed with 2" tubing, and solid so someone could replace them if they decided to take it from RatRod to show truck.

This is a simple Ratrod, insulated, rewired, and garage kept from day one! There are no dents and dings in this truck, in my opinion the most solid 1947 I've seen in years. Oh and yes and a complete underdash  A/C can be purchased on Ebay for 500.00. Although I've had no problems with the window down and arm out.

Ford recalling nearly 24,000 Focus EV and C-Max models over door chime

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

Ford will be voluntarily recalling 23,830 Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid and Energi models equipped with push-button ignition, according to The Detroit News. Why? Because the cars don't make a noise when the driver's door is open, and are therefore in violation of federal regulations. It's not as silly as Honda's badging recall that isn't a recall, but it's close.
Actually, that's not exactly fair. The chime is supposed to come on when the driver's door is open, as it reminds drivers not to leave their cars on or leave key fobs in the car, an easy thing to forget when the cars in question make virtually no noise at idle and do not require keys in ignitions.
The recall, which Ford is conducting voluntarily, covers 2012 and 2013 Focus Electric hatchbacks and 2013 C-Max Hybrid and Energi models. The overwhelming majority, around 22,900 units, were sold in the US, while the remaining 900 units are in Canada. How many of each model are covered in the recall is not immediately clear.

The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.

How Ford hid the 2015 Mustang from spy photographers

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

Now that we've finally seen the 2015 Ford Mustang, it's fun to go back and look at the spy shots we spent months pouring over, trying to dissect what was under all the camouflage. For the most part, Ford did a good job of concealing the car from spy photographers, and it released a video showing how much work went into doing so.
As crude as the Mustang's camo looked, all of the hard plastic, foam, vinyl and ratchet straps were actually created and put in place by a specific design team. The whole idea was to hide the car's identity, but it certainly ended up acting as a magnet for attention, too. According to Ford's press release, it took less than an hour for spy shots to appear online after the car was taken on public roads for the very first time - this is likely in reference to our first official spy shots of the Mustang from June, shown in the gallery below.
Scroll down for a press release and video, which shows footage of the 2015 Ford Mustang testing with minimal camouflage. This is probably the same track session where we got our first look at the Mustang's face back in August.
