The
Ranchero is blisteringly fast and I can say I do not have the guts to stay on
the gas for very long – frankly, it’s scary fast.
It
handles well with the suspension mods, considering the geometry is stock. The
brakes keep up with the added power and are not boosted because I like heavy
braking and steering in a heavy, powerful car like this. It has definitely
turned a few heads at autocross events!
I
would be 100% confident to get in this car and drive it anywhere today and
would feel the same about seeing off the new buyer on a great road trip home.

my name.
About the sale:
I’m
selling my Ranchero because I fell for (and bought) a 34 Ford pickup and have
been, since that time, bitten by the traditional hot rod bug.
We
can seal the deal with a $500 non-refundable PayPal deposit within 24
hours of auction close; the balance of payment will be due within 7 days after
auction close. I will accept a wire transfer, cashier's check or cash;
no money orders, please. To avoid paying a large PayPal service charge,
I’ll only accept the deposit amount through PayPal.
Over
the years, I’ve been totally satisfied, both as a buyer and seller, with
Intercity Lines (http://www.intercitylines.com) and I’ll certainly make myself available for your shipper
or you to get the car. If you win the auction and decide to fly to Philly to
drive the Ranchero home, please call me and maybe I can pick you up at the
Philly airport.
I’ll
be happy to send you the title by FedEx on the day after your payment clears my
bank (I’m giving myself a day in case I get jammed up at work and I can’t get
to the FedEx box in time).
Any
bidder with significant negative feedback or less than 5 total feedback ratings
should contact me by phone to prevent his bid from being rejected. Thank you.
The Ranchero must be picked up by August 15th.

NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall
Wed, 05 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.
Ford calling in 28k Edge crossovers over fuel line leak
Thu, 16 Jan 2014A problem with the fuel line on certain examples of the Ford Edge has prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall. The issue revolves around the metal housing on the fuel line pulse damper, which was apparently improperly manufactured in the first place and is prone to crack in certain circumstances, leading to a fuel leak. And as we all know, a fuel leak is not a good thing.
The problem affects model year 2012 and 2013 Edge crossovers equipped with the 2.0-liter engine and manufactured between September 2, 2010 and April 25, 2013 - a total of 27,933 units. Although the Lincoln MKX is closely related to the Edge, since it isn't offered with the same engine (to which the problem is related), the recall does not include the premium-badged version. See the recall notice below for further details.
Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list
Tue, 09 Jul 2013The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.
