This lovely 1965 Ford Ranchero is equipped with the powerful and peppy 289ci V8. The bodylines are phenomenal, and she tracks straight as you go down the road. The mileage is believed to be 36,000 and the interior does seem to hold this true.  The Paint is glossy and the suspension has been recently freshened up.  Interior is in pristine condition and is comfortable with no rips or tears. She has brand new Pony wheels with Brand new tires. (still showing nubs) She is ready to be driven daily.

Exterior:

The exterior is in great shape for its age, the paint is glossy and shows very well. The underside is solid, and the pan is solid as well. Has several bubbles showing on the rear fenders, but they are not going through the panel(you can push on them and they are not brittle) Body lines are straight and the gaps are just as they were from factory. There are no signs of stress or wear on the front or rear impact zones. All bright work looks good, other than the rear window chrome, as it has flaked off. This is a solid car with no surprises. You will not find one for this price in this condition anywhere in the USA. The bed is in great shape and does not have any rust showing.

Drivetrain:

The motor and transmission are in excellent shape! The cruise-o-matic transmission shifts firmly and the motor has plenty of power with no smoke or hesitation. She starts up every time with no issues. This vehicle is equipped with power steering and it does help quite a bit. Front end has been professionally freshened up with new bushings and tie rod ends. New adjustable air shocks in the rear for added comfort. Rear end is solid with no leaks and or funny sounds. You can safely take this vehicle on the highway. Brakes work as they should and this ranchero does not pull from side to side during brisk stopping.

Interior:

The Interior is just as good as the photos Portray, the whole interior is original, and the bench seat shows little to no wear. The Dash is flawless with no sun damage at all. All interior trim pieces are intact and are in fantastic shape. Seats fold and operate, as they should with zero binding. All gauges are operable and the gear selector indicator is showing the correct placement while in use.  Dash is near perfect! Radio is inoperable, but does click when turned on. Heat  does work, and all windows operate as they should with zero binding.

Key Issues:

-Radio is not operable
-small bubbling on rear fenders
-Small pitting on bright work
-Overall this is a solid and strong vehicle that will last for many more years to come.

Ford to announce Mulally retirement, Fields CEO as early as May 1

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Ford CEO Alan Mulally may be about to announce his long-rumored retirement from the Blue Oval, according to a pair of insiders who spoke to Bloomberg. An official statement on the succession could arrive as soon as May 1. Chief Operating Officer Mark Fields is rumored to step up as the new CEO. The company is said to be readying the announcement soon to ensure an orderly transition of power, according to the insiders.
Mulally's retirement from Ford has been a hot topic for a while. He was seriously rumored last year to be leaving the automaker to take over as the CEO of Microsoft. The board even said at one point that it was okay with them if he stepped down early. However, the CEO maintained he would stay with the business through at least the end of 2014. Fields has been rumored as a frontrunner to take over the top spot at the company since he was promoted to COO.
For the moment, Ford isn't officially confirming any of these plans. "We don't comment on speculation. We do have succession plans in place for our key leadership. We take succession planning very seriously," said Susan Krusel, Ford Global News Manager, to Autoblog.

Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
