1976 Ford Torino, 400 Auto Awesome go anywhere

Hello, Thanks for looking. I am selling this perfect running Ford Torino due to needing a mountain capable car. This car actually does great in the snow just cant get up all the driveways that I need to. It has the rock solid reliable 400 Cleveland modified engine and Bullet proof C6 transmission. Car has had super regular 3000k services. There are no noises and no issues from any of the drive train and car had new brakes installed just a little bit ago. Car is running nice 18inch rims 255 rear 245 front, and good sized tires with the front ones installed only 500 miles ago. Car has bucket seats up front converted from bench.  Car gets about 17 MPG as is. This really is a great car and gets waves and happy looks from people everywhere I go, not to mention being the only Starsky Looking Torino  ever, at car shows. There just simply are not many of these Starsky and Hutch year Torino cars left.  Only negative is Car has some rust in the trunk due to leaking rear window rubber. Positive This car will take you anywhere reliably and I would not hesitate driving to New York if I needed to. The ignition has also been upgraded to reliable pertronix. seven 20 three six 20 seven 6 three. No trades or swaps and again thanks for looking.

I had great plans to hop up the power and fuel economy with parts that I have available,  higher compression rare rebuilt Australian heads with brand new valves, and a nice medium performance cam to make use of the Heads. I also have a T5 Ford 5 speed manual Gearbox and pedal assembly available if a enthusiast is interested.

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.

Ford partnering with MIT, Stanford on autonomous vehicle research

Fri, 24 Jan 2014

Ask any car engineer what's the biggest variable in achieving fuel economy targets, and he'll tell you "the driver." If one human can't understand human driving behavior enough to be certain about an innocuous number like miles per gallon, how is an autonomous car supposed to figure out what hundreds of other drivers are going to do in the course of a day? Ford has enlisted the help of Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to find out.
Starting with the automated Fusion Hybrid introduced in December, MIT will be developing algorithms that driverless cars can use to "predict actions of other vehicles and pedestrians" and objects within the three-dimensional map provided by its four LIDAR sensors.
The Stanford team will research how to extend the 'vision' of that LIDAR array beyond obstructions while driving, analogous to the way a driver uses the entire width of a lane to see what's ahead of a larger vehicle in front. Ford says it wants to "provide the vehicle with common sense" as part of its Blueprint for Mobility, preparing for an autonomous world from 2025 and beyond.

Project Ugly Horse alive and kicking at Road & Track

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

The hallways of the Autoblog campus are much quieter now that Zach Bowman has taken his prose, along with his welders, wrenches and hammers, over to the digital pages of Road & Track, but that doesn't mean our favorite project Mustang is gone forever. Project Ugly Horse is still coming along, and Zach has gifted us another update on his unfoxy Fox Body.
Last we saw of the Ugly Horse, Zach was strengthening up the '89 Mustang's chassis as he prepares to stuff the turbocharged, direct-injected EcoBoost engine of a Ford Focus ST under the hood. First things first, the old mill must go. Head on over to Road & Track to catch the latest chapter of Project Ugly Horse.
