1982 Jeep Cj-5 Laredo Original Unrestored Cj! Lifted Original Paint 205-276-1918 on 2040-cars
Birmingham, Alabama, United States
You are viewing a very original, unrestored 1982 Jeep CJ-5 Laredo. This is a super solid original paint Jeep that is very sharp and has great patina. It still wears its original Laredo stripes and decals too it is quite rare to find the Laredo option on a CJ-5. Here are some details,
Orig. rebuilt 258 straight 6 engine T-176 4 speed transmission 4WD New 4 inch suspension lift kit Newer 33x12.50 tires New fender flares New side mirrors New center console (not pictured) New fuel tank, fuel lines, carburetor, sending unit, etc. New alternator New fuel pump New starter New flywheel New exhaust system Newer battery, belts, hoses, etc. New lockers front and rear New Bestop Supertop hardware (every nut bolt, etc. ) no soft top included New rear seat in box (not pictured) New marine stereo and speakers in box (not pictured) Power steering Front disc brakes Dana 300 transfer case As you can see, thousands and thousands of dollars have been spent to make this Jeep a reliable and super capable on/off road CJ! This Jeep runs and drives great and will do 70 MPH on the interstate all day long. It drives down the road nice and straight too which is a lot to say for a lifted Jeep with big tires! The engine is very strong and does not run hot or smoke. There is a slight oil leak and I'm not sure where its coming from. The 4 wheel drive works well and it does have lockers front and rear. The body is very solid. It still maintains all of its original panels and tub. There are no rust problems o deal with and the 32 year old original paint is still presentable! The front seats are good and there is a new rear seat and center console in the box. You will need to source a soft top and doors but I have every piece of hardware to mount a Bestop Supertop. Overall, this is a really clean original CJ. These Jeeps are getting harder and harder to find in this condition. Don't miss your chance to own this appreciating classic. Many of my auctions end with just a phone call. I can arrange shipping worldwide. 205-276-1918. |

Chrysler recalling 630k Jeep models worldwide
Thu, 06 Jun 2013Despite its refusal to recall 2.7 million Jeep Grand Cherokee and Liberty models this week over a gas tank fire risk, Chrysler will be recalling 630,000 Jeep Compass (pictured), Patriot and Wrangler vehicles around the globe for a pair of entirely different reasons.
The affected Compass and Patriot models are all from the 2010 to 2012 model years - 254,000 in the United States, 45,400 in Canada and 109,000 elsewhere in the world. In these models, a software error may result in the late deployment of the side airbags and seatbelt tensioners. In the event of a crash, failure of these systems could result in more serious injuries for the vehicle's occupants.
Jeep's go-anywhere Wrangler also faces a separate recall due to power steering fluid lines that can possibly wear a hole in the transmission oil cooler line. According to Chrysler, the vehicles could then leak fluid, possibly damaging the transmissions. Roughly 221,100 Wrangler models are being recalled because of this issue, all of which are fitted with Jeep's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. In the US, 181,000 vehicles are affected, with an additional 18,400 in Canada and 21,700 additional units worldwide. A Chrysler spokesperson said that no crashes or injuries have been reported with either case, according to the Associated Press.
Chrysler delays 2014 Jeep Cherokee media launch
Tue, 30 Jul 2013Chrysler is making the unusual move of delaying the first media drives of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, which were slated to start next week in Seattle. And while something like this is a rare occurrence, and one that most of the Autoblog staff can't recall happening this publicly or so close to the event itself, it won't effect the actual on-sale date of the new Cherokee, which is set to hit showrooms in September.
"Over the last couple of weeks during final quality and durability testing, we have discovered the opportunity to further improve powertrain calibration," Chrysler told Automotive News. This marks the second notable delay in the Cherokee's short life, after production was delayed for roughly a month earlier this summer.
Still, we'd rather Chrysler make sure the Cherokee is ready for primetime before flying media in from around the country. It shows a willingness to get things right the first time, rather than offering media drives and then tweaking the car after the fact.
Some Jeep Cherokees and Chrysler 200s to get standard stop-start in 2015
Wed, 25 Jun 2014Automakers the world over are striving to find ways to make their models more efficient, and Chrysler has a solution for some versions of the 2015 Chrysler 200 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee (2014 model shown). The Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder in the 200 and the 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 in the Cherokee are getting a slight boost later this year thanks to the addition of Chrysler's Engine Stop-Start system as standard equipment. The company predicts modest gains - a three-percent improvement in fuel economy and a three percent reduction in CO2 emissions with the new tech compared to without it. While it's not much, those who sit in traffic a lot may see a difference.
Chrysler's stop/start system uses a high-speed starter motor to restart the vehicle in a claimed a third of a second. It works by detecting when the vehicle comes to a stop and turning off the engine. A more powerful battery maintains all of the model's accessories while it sits. When the driver lets off the brake, the car starts up again to drive away. There is even a button in the cabin to turn the ESS off, if desired.
The Jeep will be the first to receive ESS in the third quarter of this year to coincide with the start of production of the 2015 model-year version. The 200 will follow in the fourth quarter as a rolling change in production.
