Junction City, Oregon, United States

Up for auction is a 1962 mercury comet 2 door. This car was a california car up until about 4 years ago. We purchased the car from the previous owner who had the car for about ten years and said that it was garaged in california and then in oregon when not being driven,  This car approximately 90 percent original from what we can tell and it runs and drives very well. It has a 170 six cylinder engine and automatic transmission. The engine has a little blow by coming out of the vent tube in the front of the engine, I was told this is common for these engines. Starts very easily, no pumping the gas pedal, no choke, just turn the key. The exhaust appears to have been replaced at some point with new original style system. The tires are near new and are 175/80 r13s on 4 lug suspension. The interior is in amazing condition with all gauges, switches are working with the exception of a sticky heater temp switch. No tears in seats, headliner, door panels. On the exterior of the car is the original white paint except for a previous repaint of the top and hood of the car with original color, no damage can be found, and still retains all original sheet metal. There are a few scratches and dings around the car as the pictures will show. The only rust I have been able to find is on the very bottom of the left rear quarter panel, shown in the pictures. This is an amazing running and driving car for being 52 years old and not having been restored. Has a clear title. This car is sold as is and is represented to the best of our knowledge. This car is for sale locally, and if sold the auction will be cancelled.

Winning bider must contact us with in 24 hours of auction ending and make arrangement for payment of $500.00 non refundable deposit. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Car will not leave until payment in full has cleared either by direct diposit or check within 7 business days. any questions call Doug 541-513-9936 or Mischele 541-513-8552 eves or weekend

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.

eBay Find of the Day: Craterface's '49 Mercury convertible from Grease

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

Here is your chance to own your very own piece of greased lightning. Well, not the Greased Lighting, it's actually the black, flamed 1949 Mercury convertible that races against John Travolta in the classic 1978 movie Grease, and it's for auction on eBay Motors.
While it appeared in the film's exciting drag race in a Los Angeles storm drain, the hot rod was reportedly lost until last year, when the seller found it as a shell. He verified that it was the actual car with original builder, Eddie Paul, and sent the car for a complete restoration.
The auction includes original parts like the exhaust tips used in the movie and bent bumper from when it hit Travolta's car in the scene. The restorer recreated the scorpion stickers on the doors, razor hubcaps and license plate. He also installed a 1949 Mercury 255-cubic-inch (4.2-liter), flathead V8 and three-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
