So, I thought the only thing better than having one 1951 Mercury, was having two, but things have come up, and I need to sell one. This Merc has been in a couple different barns most of its life and was last driven in 1961. It was originally a North Dakota car. It has a rebuilt never run flathead motor, a rebuilt 3 speed with overdrive trans, a rebuilt starter, and many new brake parts. I have over $3000 in receipts for this car. It needs small rust repairs behind wheel in both front fenders, driver side front floor pan patch, both outer rockers(passenger side is just smashed in), driver side inner rocker(I have a 26'' piece of inner rocker I'll give with the car), trunk pan patch, driver quarter panel needs patch in front of wheel and needs dent fix behind wheel, passenger quarter panel needs very small repair in front of wheel, front bumper is dented in passenger corner and pan underneath needs to be pounded flat again. Aside from all these terrible sounding things, the car shouldn't be hard to fix, because all these patch panels are available right here on glorious Ebay! This is a very complete car that still has  its interior(though ratty), all garnish moldings, and even the stainless trim!  The car needs a generator, gas tank, exhaust, battery and hoses to run. The previous owner said the oil pan leaked and he tried to fix it with JB weld, but it needs to have metal welded in to be right. This will be a great car again for the purest, or a great start at that custom Merc. My reserve price is $7201.00 Please call with any questions and I'll try and answer them for you. 651-235-6983 Sam. I will need a $500 deposit through Paypal within 24 hours of auctions end, then the remaining balance in cash in person, or a certified bank check made out to me within 5 days of auctions close. I will work with the buyers shipping any way I can. Thanks and happy bidding, Sam

Preposed class-action lawsuit targets 'defective' MyFord Touch

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

A national law firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit whose presupposition is that MyFord Touch is defective. Specifically, the complaint states that the system - as well as the MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch clones - often freeze, fail to respond to voice or touch commands and have issues connecting to mobile phones.
According to Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman, MyFord Touch is a theoretically "brilliant idea" that falls short in actual execution. Said Berman in a press release, "In reality, the system is fundamentally flawed, failing to reliably provide functionality, amounting to an inconvenience at best, and a serious safety issue at worst."
Other MFT issues enumerated within the 41-page filing include problems controlling the window defroster, rear-view camera and navigation system. The suit maintains that Ford is aware of the problem but has yet to submit a workable and acceptable solution to MFT customers. Scroll down if you'd like to read the full press release.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
