This is an outstanding street rod.  It is a 1946 Plymouth Business Coupe.  It has been mildly customized with 1955 Buick rear wheel wells added. The hood, doors and deck lid have been shaved.  The headlights, tail lights and tag have been frenched.  The bumpers are one piece smoothies.  The grill has been modified.  It has a one piece windshield and the side vent windows have been removed.  The front suspension is from a late model GM auto.  It has power steering, power brakes, power windows, electric wipers, Vintage Air, tilt wheel, halogen headlights, LED tail lights, 3rd brake light and secret audio system with 10 disc CD player.  It has a custom dash with wood inlays that looks really great.  It has electric door and trunk latches that are controlled by remote.  The interior is White and shows beautifully.  The car has disc brakes in the front and drum rear.  The motor was new from Acey Machine when installed and it runs great.  It has a mild cam and 4 bbl carb.  The radiator is a Walker with electric fan with auto control by temp.  If you are a big guy, this is the car for you.  It is extremely roomy.  There is much more to the car than I have included but these are the high spots.  This Plymouth has been featured in several magazines,  It was a Street Rodder Top 100 car, It was featured on the table of contents page of the NSRA street rod nationals in Louisville a couple of years ago.  Everything works and works beautifully.  I would not be afraid to drive this car anywhere.  Don't just take my word for it, come look and drive it.  It will sell itself.  Contact me days on my cell at 662-836-7093 or nights at 662-962-2922.  I am located in west central Mississippi.  Dick

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
