This 1965 Pontiac LeMans GTO tribute convertible runs and looks great. Super nice paint and gets compliments every time she's out and about.  This was an off frame restoration, and I got it in a real estate transaction.  I don't drive it as much as I'd like, and only put less than 200 miles on it since I've had it, so she needs a new home.  Only has about 500 miles since restoration. Almost everything on it is new; will try to list some here, but the list is long.  Will also list what may need fixing as well.
New: Wheels & tires, 4 wheel disc brakes (no E brake)-stops on a dime, bumpers, tail lights & bezels, interior seats & carpet, door panels, modern gauge cluster (over $1000 worth), dashpad, emblems, convertible top (& weatherstripping) with new hydraulic motor, windshield, paint (completely stripped before re-paint), rocker mouldings, radiator, master cylinder with power booster, starter & alternator, Tri-Power carbs (all have been gone through), tubular A arms in front, turbo 400 transmission, front shocks and rear air shocks.  I'm sure I'm missing some things, but everything works great and looks beautiful.
Things that may need attention, like with any older car: The horn doesn't work, they didn't install one, looks like. Due to about a 4" scratch by a bike on the rear left quarter panel, they touched it up but in certain light you can see a slight difference in paint in that spot. Transmission drips a little from the pan gasket. On & off, it drips a few drops of oil.  Whoever installed the interior did not do the cutouts for ashtrays in the back armrests, so no ashtrays.
All in all, it's in super shape, and a "real" GTO in this condition would probably go for $40-50K.  Nothing like driving a beautiful car with the top down.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.
