1976 Trans Am. My older brother bought this car in about 1980 and had in storage the last twenty years. The Engine, Tranny and Car Vin numbers all match. The Drivers seat has a some small tears but outside of that the interior is completely 95% intact as it came from the factory new. The seat covers in the pictures were put in twenty years ago and I would recover the seat or have an  upholstery shop repair the drivers seat as it is rare to find a original seat cover in this condition. The stick shift and the shift knob both say Hurst on them. The motor is a 400 with 4 speed manual transmission. Anyway interior is all original. Classic Industries sell new authentic upholstery for $269 dollars a set for the front seats. I left the old School fuzzy seat covers on for the time being and decided whoever buys it could have the seat covers repaired or to have new covers put on would be up to them. The engine compartment is how it was when I got the car and is not perfect but is pretty much original condition and still needed to have the auto polish from the paint job cleaned off the air cleaner etc. The radiator support looks like it may have been straightened in the past.  The tires are BF Goodrich TA's 265/50/15's in the front and 275/50/\15's in the rear. Apparently this size of tire is no longer available in 50's but they were in good shape, had plenty of tread left in them and fit the looks of the car so I replaced the corroded SS Cragers with brand new ones and they look great on this set up. After replacing all the rubber molding on the doors and trunk they all shut hard but I assume that settles in after a while. They shut fine before the new molding was put on and seems to be getting better the longer it's on. Car needed new alternator and wiper motor so they are both new or rebuilt. New headlight switch so dash lights dim correctly. Car comes with original inflateable spare tire and like new original jack. Large firebird decal could use to be replaced if you want it to be perfect. Tack and Speedometer work fine as does the odometer. Car shows 65,152 miles as of now but above I added some for driving around getting the bugs out. I put in new plug wires and spark plugs. The wires were shot and now the car runs pretty darn good. 4 barrels needed some lubrication and freeing up put seem to work as intended now. I put in a new K & N air filter and had the brakes all re-done.  Car handles really good with the tire combination and steering is really fast compared to cars these days. Drivers door glass has scratches that I would change out if I was keeping it for my self for show. I drove the car out to dinner and it gets a lot of thumbs up. Of all the Trans Ams years and colors I believe this is one of the sharpest looking TA made from the round headlights to the front and rear bumper covers. Want more info and any additional pictures just ask.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
