1976 Saab 99 Ems U.s. Version Not 850 900 9000 on 2040-cars

Year:1976 Mileage:66929

Clementon, New Jersey, United States

This is a U.S. version 1976 Saab 99 ems.  This must be one of the cleanest, most rust free, original, and low mile 99 ems' survining.  I am only the second registered owner of the vehicle.  The prior TX owner purchased the car with approximately 62,000 miles and put the additional 929 miles on the odometer.  The prior TX owner stated the car ran fine when he bought it almost 8 years ago, but that it needed brake and AC work.  The prior TX owner did not have time to attend to the car so it primarily sat in his garage.  I have confirmed in the approximate two years of ownership that the car does need its brake master cylinder replaced or rebuilt.  I have not diagnosed or attempt to repair the AC, but all the components such as the compressor and controls appear to be present.  Since the car sat for some time, I have done extensive work on the fuel system including dropping and relining the fuel tank, replacing the fuel pump, fuel accumulator, most fuel lines, and fuel filter.  The car now cranks and starts well but it has a hard time remaining running.  I suspect the fuel system requires further tweaking.  I am very reluctantly selling this car but I really do not have further time to attend to it and the garage space its occupied while under my ownership will no longer be available.

The car was bought my the prior TX owner from the original owner in California.  The original CA owner was an older gentlemen and did not use the car much over the years and typically kept it garaged.  This car is as original as when it left the showroom in 1976.  The interior is in impecable condition with no rips, no stains, and not really even any wear on the seats or carpet.  (Please note, the dash has no cracks but material on the right side has started to pull back/shrink and the head liner is drooping although still in nice shape (see pictures).)  It has the oringial EMS details such as the gauges, badging, stripes, special front grill, and air dam.

The body is very solid, rust free, straight, and clean with no signs of any kind of body work.  The paint is original and only slightly dulled as one would expect from nearly a 40 year old car.  The paint does have one small blemish in the left rear quarter panel area (see picture).  The wheels are the original EMS "soccer ball" type.  The bumpers are straight and clean.  This car does not have a radio or the plastic housing underneath the middle of the dash to house a radio.  I do not believe a radio was ever equiped with this car.  In addition, the rear antenna is missing but the wiring is present.

The clutch and hydraulics all worked well according to the prior TX owner, however since the car has been sitting for 6 years, it is being sold as is.  I am hoping a Saab enthusiast will find this a very worthy car to complete.  You will not be disappointed in the original condition of this car.  The car comes with a clear PA title and Saab owners manual.  The buyer will have to arrange and pay for transport.  I'm happy to help assist with arangement where possible.  I'm not familiar with overseas shipping so please contact me prior to bidding if you are an overseas bidder.  Full payment must be received within 3 days of auction end.  A deposit of $1,000 is expected within 24 hours of auction end.  I reserve the right to end this auction early should it be sold elsewhere as this car is for sale locally as well.

My feedback speaks for itself.  Please only bid if you are seriously interested.  Do not waste my time or the time of serious bidders.

Thank you for your interest and please let me know if you have any questions.

NEVS to build new Saab models in China's Qingdao

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

National Electric Vehicle Sweden has officially signed a deal with Qingdao Qingbo Investment Company that will see the NEVS build EVs in Qingdao, China. The move is the first step on the road toward eventually selling vehicles in China. Reuters reports that the Chinese company has agreed to invest $307.33 million, after which point Qingdao Qingbo will receive 22 percent of the NEVS shares. Currently, there's no word on exactly when the funds and shares will change hands, but the Swedish automaker has previously said it fully intends to launch its first EV by early 2014.
NEVS has also made waves about potentially building a version of the old Saab 9-3 with a traditional internal combustion driveline. Currently, the manufacturer says it plans to ship the vehicles it builds in Sweden to the Qingdao port and distribute them to the rest of China from there. Later down the line, a manufacturing facility in Qingdao will supply the country with Chinese-built Saab models.

Spyker files $3 billion lawsuit against General Motors over Saab's demise

Mon, 06 Aug 2012

"Smack." That's the sound of Spyker's process server dropping a big ol' pile of legal documents on the doorstep of The Renaissance Center, home of General Motors - or wherever GM's attorneys live during business hours. Contained therein is a Complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and demanding a jury trial, that seeks $3 billion in damages due to "the unlawful actions GM took to avoid competition with Saab Automobile in the Chinese market." Spyker accuses GM of "tortiously interfering" with Saab's business relationship with Chinese automaker Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile (Youngman), actions that Spyker CEO Victor Muller (above) said "deliberately drove Saab Automobile into bankruptcy."
(From Wikipedia: "Tortious interference, also known as intentional interference with contractual relations, in the common law of torts, occurs when a person intentionally damages the plaintiff's contractual or other business relationships.")
The interference in question specifically refers to the very last potential deal, called the Framework Agreement, that Spyker worked out with Youngman. With lots of GM engineering embedded into the 9-4X and 9-5, The General had the right to approve any Saab partnership that would involve the transfer of GM intellectual property. Spyker had been rebuffed over every previous deal with a Chinese firm, including two bids by Youngman, due to GM concerns over its IP getting into Chinese hands and having to face Chinese-market competitors using its technology. The Complaint alleges that the Framework Agreement would have put a firewall around all GM IP - Youngman would only work on Saab's Phoenix platform, said to be just about free of GM tech, and would have no access to 9-3, 9-4X or 9-5 technology until after Saab ceased all ties to GM.

Court extends Saab reorganization bid until end of November

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

Saab parent company National Electric Vehicle Sweden refuses to go down without a fight. After a recent trip to court, the company is emerging with an extension on its reorganization until November 29. According to Europe Online Magazine, there's also an appointed committee of creditors and union representatives to monitor NEVS' restructuring process.
NEVS still isn't giving up hope of saving itself, and the company claims there are has two potential strategies for getting back on its feet. The main plan is to "finalize the negotiations with the two Asian automotive manufacturers," according to a press release. Those firms still aren't identified, but Mahindra may be involved. According to Europe Online Magazine, one of the businesses is looking to take partial ownership of NEVS, and the other is considering some sort of cooperation with it.
If that plan fails, the second option is to take advantage of the factory and become a contract manufacturer.
