Hi, Up for bid I have an excellent condition 1999 Toyota 4 runner SR5 V6 4x4 automatic with 104000 miles. Very clean and straight inside and out, it drives great, doesn't pull, steering wheel is straight and it'll get up to 24 mpg on the highway. I've been prepping this truck for sale and have gone over it throughly, cleaning it mainly. I actually spent the last few days underneath the truck scrapping off the frame of flaky surface rust with a big wire brush and putty knife. I then used Napa rust inhibitor spray on those areas, it adds a black finish to the surface rust instead of the red, I felt it was necessary and adds a nice value to the vehicle knowing that all is good underneath as well. I purchased the vehicle in New Jersey, it wasn't in NJ during Hurricane Sandy, Carfax says it was registered in Texas at the time. I then took it to be serviced at Galaxy Toyota in New Jersey where they checked it over for me before my drive back home to Colorado and serviced the water pump, timing belt, drive belts, and I'm assuming coolant as well. The technician gave it a good bill of health and noted that the spark plugs, wires, rear shocks, and new tires were recently replaced and the truck looked great. I know these Toyota trucks well and have owned many, this is a quality truck that will easily join its fellow Toyota Comrades in the +200,000 mile club. I bought this truck to haul family belongings out to my home in Colorado, then list it for sale after I got home. All you will need to do is routine maintenance from here on out. I've told you about all the good stuff now the minor bad, according to the Carfax, it's been in 2 accidents, nothing major, no air bag deployment, just a couple fender benders. The front bumper and drivers side headlight were replaced from what I can tell while underneath it. The panels all have there matching vin stickers, so thats good. I always liked that about fine cars, especially Toyota. It was stolen and recovered in New York City, from what the Carfax says, adds a little clout in my book! The rear hatch has a small dent on the drives side and the keyhole is missing, I have the broken piece but its a little beyond my realm of desire to fix it. The rear window functions properly and the lock works except for the part you put the key into is gone. The tire are nice and new, but a little off brand, Fuzion, ever heard of them? They make a little noise rolling down the road, Im sure there decent sneakers but some BFG's may be better later on. I would personally get rid of the running boards, there heavy, ugly, and worthless, plus there a little rusty underneath and on the edges. Overall it's a great truck with a little bit of a rough history but certainly in prime condition for its age, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask. I am willing to work with the winning bidder on the shipping or possible delivery arrangements as well. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Toyota FT-86 Open Concept leaves us feeling flushed

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

When last we checked in on our topless would-be hero, the Toyota FT-86 convertible had been reportedly placed on "indefinite hold." That was back in early October, not long after Toyota had trotted out the rear-wheel-drive canvasback to Scion dealers as a possible future product carrot if they decided not to turn in their franchises. And yet, we're here at the Tokyo Motor Show, where Toyota has taken the time to at least repaint the FT-86 Open Concept in "Flash Red," if not build a whole other car (the original Geneva showcar was white). It's enough to make our heads spin like a teenager on the verge of a breakup. Will they? Won't they?
At this point, we still don't know any more than you do - the last word we heard out of Toyota was not encouraging, although the story was that the program could still be fast-tracked if management had a change of heart. As the car has never been seen before in Japan, perhaps Toyota is merely extending its domestic audience a courtesy view before it lines this showcar in mothballs, or maybe they're still trying to make a decision on its fate and gauging public reaction on the homefront.
Interestingly, in a new story published today, Automotive News quotes Subaru brand boss Yasuyuki Yoshinaga downplaying the likelihood of a production model, saying flatly "We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen." The executive went on to note, "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change." Given that such a car would probably trade in rather small volumes, that sounds like a significant hurtle.

NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers

Fri, 08 Jun 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.

2015 Toyota Camry

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Every car has its definitive year. Whether it be the Chevrolet Corvette, the Ford Mustang, or yes, even the ubiquitous Toyota Camry, 10.2 million of which have been sold since 1983, every car has its year. For the Camry, that year was 1992. With son-of-Lexus styling, a clear sense of purpose and a parent company that had hit its stride as the purveyor of faultlessly reliable family transportation devices, the Camry got its legs in 1992. It's a car that even your mom is likely to remember, even if she never owned one herself.
The Camry you see here represents the closest Toyota has come to emulating the magic formula that made the 1992 model the stuff of legends. Compared to the 2014 model, some 2000 of the car's 6,000 parts are new, most of them involving things you can see or touch (on the outside, for example, only the roof carries over from 2014).
It's not a full redesign, but nevertheless it's a stunning development considering the predecessor upon which it's based only survived two model years. That's a testament to both the hyper-competitive nature of the family sedan segment and the lukewarm critical response that the outgoing car garnered. But that's in the past now - after driving this 2015 model, we suspect the new car's changes will be thorough enough to continue pulling in new customers by the hundreds of thousands each year for the foreseeable future.
