2004 Volkswagen Mk4 Golf R32 Supercharged 3.2l Vr6 on 2040-cars

Year:2004 Mileage:109000
Location:

Awesome VW, 2004 MKIV R32.  Many performance upgrades, including:

Stage 2 VF Supercharger with intercooler (you can see the big intercooler hiding behind the low center grill)
Methanol Injection.  Metered according to boost, using a Snow Performance injection controller.  Meth tank/pump are mounted in the rear hatch area.
Oversize stainless exhaust.
Adjustable coil-over suspension.
Slotted and drilled brake rotors.

This car is super fun to drive.   On the track, it'll run with much more expensive cars.  Previous owner (I think I'm owner #2), did almost all the upgrades, and claimed ~450hp, with race mode loaded into the ECU, on the right fuel.   I'm won't claim a HP number (haven't dyno tested it), but can attest that it is a VERY strong runner.

Lots of recent work - including new alternator and battery, new serpentine/supercharger-drive belt, new oil pump and bearings, new clutch, new dogbone lower motor mount.

The pictures speak for themselves.   And the sound (turn it up!):

Video.

From the VIN, ebay automatically extracted some of the vehicle details.  Rest assured, this is no longer a "naturally aspirated" car.

In the interest of full disclosure, let's list the known flaws:
 - The tint job on the windows could use a re-do.
 - It's 10 year old paint.  So, it's got a few nicks, door dings, tired clear coat in a couple spots.   But it is certainly presentable and drivable as-is.  (it's just not new-car fresh)
 - Previous owner had the rear seats out (lighter weight for racing).  I am still missing the drivers side lower rear seat.  I may still recover the original from the previous owner; but - if not - have a source where a near-new replacement can be purchased for $65, including shipping.
 - It appears that there was, at one time, a big subwoofer box in the back.  Wiring is still there for it; but I don't have the sub, box, or amp.
 - I haven't had this car long, and to be honest, don't know as much as I should about it.   For instance, I haven't played with the flashloader.  So the new owner will get to figure out a few things  dialing it in for his or her preference.

Car is located in Salt Lake City, UT.  It's stored at a shop, and available for inspection.  I can help facilitate shipping if required.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible gets the R-Line treatment

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Volkswagen just launched the topless Beetle Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but we're already seeing the next step forward in the topless Bug range with this, the R-Line. We'll admit, this treatment falls under the "all show and no go" category, but it's still a pretty potent little cutie.
The R-Line starts with a standard Beetle Turbo Convertible but adds unique 19-inch aluminum wheels on lower-profile tires, LED daytime running lamps and Xenon headlamps. Naturally, there are R-Line badges aplenty both on the interior and exterior, and we must say, the whole package looks pretty darn snazzy.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but when it goes on sale later this year, the hotter convertible will join Volkswagen's growing R-Line portfolio that now includes the CC, Beetle hatch, Tiguan and Touareg.

UK auto magazine says this is the best car commercial of all time [w/videos]

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

There have been many great car commercials over the years, but is it possible to define the best? Well, Ad Week recently took a crack at it by rating the top commercials of the year by looking at their view counts on YouTube, but Auto Express took a more democratic approach by putting the decision to a vote. Just after Thanksgiving, Auto Express came up with a list of the 20 popular commercials, and it tasked its readers with choosing the winner for the best car ad of all time. The winner? Honda's 2003 commercial for its then-new European Accord titled "The Cog."
While the ad never aired in the US, most car people have surely seen the impressive Rube Goldberg-style spot. In fact, the only commercial on this list that we saw on US television was the Volkswagen ad "The Force," but many of the others have become viral videos, including transforming and dancing Citroën C4. Of the 19 other commercials that vied for the title of best ad of all time, only the Ford Puma "Steve McQueen" commercial gave Honda a run for its advertising money.
Scroll down to watch Auto Express' top five commercial in order and to check out a press release, then let us know some of your favorite car commercials in Comments.

VW launches special edition Touareg X

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

Volkswagen is no stranger to special editions, but its Touareg SUV has remained largely unspecial in terms of exclusive trims or unique packages. That's changed with the announcement of the Touareg X, a 1,000-unit run based on the V6 TDI Lux trim - mid-range diesel model, between the navigation-equipped TDI Sport and the TDI R-Line.
The already special Touareg gets 19-inch "Moab" wheels, LED taillights (to go along with its LED DRLs) and "Touareg X" badging, while all 1,000 units will be painted Moonlight Blue Pearl. Tweaks in the cabin are equally light, with a black-on-black-on-black color scheme dominating - black Vienna leather, a black headliner and piano black trim. Aluminum bits make an appearance in the form of the door sills and pedals, although that's about it.
Other than those few aesthetic tweaks, the Touareg X is equipped largely like the Touareg Lux on which it's based. That means navigation, a panoramic sunroof, power seats, LED running lights, dual-zone air conditioning and heated power seats, among other tech pieces. Pricing starts at $56,170, making for a slight bump of $1,195 over the standard Touareg Lux.
