Year:1972 Mileage:99000
Location:

Reseda, California, United States

Reseda, California, United States

You are bidding on a used 1972 Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback. Car starts, runs but needs a tune up in order to drive to its full potential. Once you have a tune up done to it, it will run great.

The vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty. Please read full description before bidding. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Below you will find a list of the pros and cons of the vehicle. I have owned the car for the past 14 years but it is time to finally let it go.

Pros:
New tires
New distributor
New battery
New Carpet (front driver side needs to be re-glued. see pic)
New door panels (driver and passenger. panels need to be assembled properly.)
New dashboard
Newish carbs
New head lights
New cup holder basket
New bamboo tray
New door seals, rear lid seals, engine cap seals and hood seals.
New taillights

New starter

New turn signal switch
Headliner painted for new look (headliner has small holes)
Engine rebuilt with approx. 30k miles on it.
Floor panels have no rust (see pics. sorry - not the best pics)

Cons.
Needs tune up
windshield has a crack
Tags will expire soon (6/18)
Steering wheel is cracked
Needs steering wheel/front wheel alignment

Door panels need to be fully assembled along with interior part of doors (window track to raise and lower window)

Heater cables/box has been unplugged (normally don't need heat in California)

small rust next to drivers door (outside - see pic)

I have tried my best to describe any problems the car may have. Please be aware that it is an older car so naturally it will have more issues than a newer car. The car runs great once it gets a tune up so unfortunately its not one of those "buy and drive" sort of things. You can drive it and it will run but I don't suggest it. Overall its a nice car. Has lots of new items and still solid. All electrical on the car works. Body is solid and has almost no rust. Floor pans look great with no rust (picture is not great but it can give you an idea of what to expect.) Odometer reads 99,xxx but since it resets after 99,999, I really don't know the actual millage on it.

Car is being sold as is with no warranty. What you see is what you get. Buyer is responsible for shipping/transporting of vehicle.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and will try my best to answer them

Volkswagen debuts MkVII-based diesel Golf GTD

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As Volkswagen prepares for the launch of the seventh-generation Golf, it continues to show off some of the car's different variants. With the standard Golf and the ultra-efficient BlueMotion Concept out of the way, now we're finally starting to see some of the sportier versions planned for the hatchback. Confirmed for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen has now given us our first glimpse at the Golf GTD.
Just think of the GTD as a diesel version of the GTI with all the handling and styling upgrades, and then add a torquey engine to the equation. (We had the chance to sample the current GTD over the summer, so click here to read more.) To go with the new body style, VW also gave the GTD a new TDI engine consisting of a similar turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter inline-four layout but with an output of 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque - that's an increase of 14 hp and 22 lb-ft over the current GTD. That's a pretty good oomph, but the GTD won't be setting any acceleration records with VW quoting a 0-62 mile per hour time of 7.5 seconds thanks to the car's 3,036-pound curb weight.
The styling of the MkVII Golf lends itself quite well to the more aggressive body kit found on the GTD (and likely matching the GTI). The new front fascia and blacked-out grille give the GTD a sporty look up front, while 17-inch sport wheels, rocker panel extensions and smoked LED taillights finish off the visual changes. The GTD will only be offered in three exterior colors: Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. As expected, the interior gets the plaid seat inserts and flat-bottomed sport steering wheel, but the car also gets stainless steel pedals, a black headliner, ambient cabin lighting and a specific gauge cluster readout.

Volkswagen Cross Up! aimed at rugged lifestyle folks, complete with plastic cladding

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

If you thought there was nothing wrong with the Volkswagen Up! that a little body cladding wouldn't fix, you're in luck. VW has officially pulled the wraps off the production version of the Cross Up!, and its wheel arches and rocker panels are full of the black plastic cladding you've been yearning for.
In addition to the "particularly rugged design and tough, lifestyle qualities" that the cladding exudes, VeeDub has also seen fit to put its Cross Up! on a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels clad in 185/50-series tires. Inside, there are new kick plates to go along with a dash pad that can be had in red, black or silver.
All that cladding must equal additional off-road readiness, right? Well, sure... just so long as you're fine with the same 75-horsepower three-cylinder engine that all other Up! models also feature, along with a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels, again, just like all other Up! models. The Cross Up! appears to have a taller ride height than other models, but we haven't been able to find out what - if any - changes have been made.

Volkswagen hatches hotter GTI in Geneva

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

The all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't even launched here in the United States, but over in Geneva, we're already getting our first glimpse at the hotter GTI hatchback. The fancy new Mk VII Golf is already off to a healthy start with positive reviews in Europe, and we have no doubt that this next GTI will work hard to regain its title as king of the hot hatches.
The big news for this generation of GTI is that for the first time ever, Volkswagen is actually offering two different power grades for the model, both relying on the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. Standard cars pack 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but an optional performance pack ups the horsepower number to 230. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes 6.5 seconds (6.4 with the performance pack) and top speed is quoted at 153 mph (or 155 with the performance kit). Volkswagen will continue to offer the GTI with both six-speed manual and dual-clutch transmissions.
On the visual front, the sub-3,000-pound GTI adds the usual bit of hot hatch aggression over the standard Golf, and those changes carry over to the interior with a flat-bottomed wheel and, of course, plaid seats. She's certainly a looker, and while some of us do find the new Golf's design to be a bit staid and evolutionary, the enhancements for the GTI indeed tug on our enthusiast heart strings.
