Volvo S70 Glt Sedan (forest Green, Leather) (4-door, 2.4l Engine) on 2040-cars
Alameda, California, United States
Great car! I had to convince my wife to let us sell it. Super spacious, extremely reliable, and will always get you there comfortably and safely. Loaded with features, including sunroof, airbags, power windows & seats, leather upholstery, etc. A few scratches. One patch of slight paint discoloration on the trunk, visible in the photos. Leather upholstery is in great condition in rear seats. Front seats have small tears. A seat cover is on the driver's seat but may be removed if preferred. Runs great! Mostly highway miles. Never been in an accident. Third owner, but we've known all the owners, and the car has been kept in the family. All non-smoker owners. Well maintained and serviced. Smogged, oil change, and new oxygen detector installed two weeks ago. ABS isn't working which can cause "check engine" to light, but isn't an issue. Mechanic says this car could easily pass 300k miles. Clear CarFax history. Never been in an accident. Clean title, current registration, new tags good through 05/15. Will be a great car for you as it has been for us. We've bought an electric car and are downsizing. Email us or call. Tony and Pamela. Volvo XC90 R-Design adds a dash of sport
Thu, 18 Sep 2014The 2015 Volvo XC90 is a huge leap forward for the Swedish automaker as its first all-new model since leaving Ford ownership. There's a lot riding on the crossover's success, too, because its platform is supposed to underpin Volvo vehicles for years to come. The latest move for the new CUV is adding a little aggressiveness to the look with the R-Design trim for buyers desiring a sportier-looking Swede.
The R-Design joins the already announced Momentum and Inscription trims. Mechanically it doesn't change anything, but ticking the box for the R-Design adds a slightly different grille with horizontal slats, a redesigned lower air dam, new window trim, matte silver side-mirror covers and rectangular exhaust nestled in an altered lower rear bumper. The sportier XC90 comes standard with 20-inch wheels, but a 22-inch design is optional, as well.
The meaner look is carried inside with sport seats covered in Nubuck and Nappa leather, a perforated leather steering wheel and R-Design trim for the gearshift, pedals, floor mats and illuminated tread plates. The touchscreen infotainment system also gets an R-Design theme.
Tony Nicolosi confirmed as Volvo's North American CEO
Tue, 14 Jan 2014This past October, John Maloney stepped down from his post as CEO at Volvo Cars North America. In his place, the Swedish automaker tentatively promoted Tony Nicolosi, who had until then served as head of Volvo Car Financial Services. The appointment was reportedly temporary, giving Nicolosi the title of acting CEO. But according to Automotive News, his position has now been confirmed for the long run.
Although Volvo has yet to announce a new director for its financial arm, Nicolosi says they have found the right person and will announce sometime between now and the National Automobile Dealers Association convention, set to take place later this month in New Orleans.
Last month, Volvo also announced that its global communications chief Bodil Eriksson is moving from the home office in Gothenburg to the North American office in Rockleigh, New Jersey. Anders Kärrberg has been promoted from the government affairs post to take Eriksson's place.
Volvo demos autonomous self-parking car concept
Thu, 20 Jun 2013A number of companies are developing autonomous vehicle technology - Google and Audi come to mind - but Volvo is applying its work in the area to a particular usage case: parking. The Swedish automaker has the technology up and running in a concept vehicle, which it says can be dropped off at the curb by its owner and left to its own devices to enter and navigate a car park, then find and park in an available parking spot. Volvo says the process can even be reversed when the owner is ready to go, with the car leaving the car park on its own to meet its key-holder again at the curb.
The vehicle first interacts with Vehicle 2 Infrastructure technology, which places transmitters in the road itself to inform the car (and driver) if the self-parking service is available. The driver then hops out, activates the Self Parking function on his or her smartphone and then leaves the car to do its work. The car uses sensors, all seemingly hidden from view (an advancement of its own in this field), to autonomously navigate the car park, which includes interacting and adjusting to other cars, people and objects.
The technology used here builds off of Volvo's other work in autonomous vehicle research, namely the Safe Road Trains for the Environment (SARTRE) project in which the company managed to create a train of four cars autonomously following a lead truck at speeds up 56 miles per hour. Volvo says the first application of its autonomous research in a production vehicle will happen at the end of 2014 with some level of autonomous steering available in the next-generation XC90. See the system in action by watching the video below.
