1969 Buick Electra 225 Convertible This is a very solid and well driving classic 60's drop top. 430 V8 (recent rebuild), 3spd automatic, rust free body, good paint, etc. Option include: Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Dual Exhaust, Power Convertible Top, Power Windows, AM-FM Radio, Power Antenna, Tilt-Wheel, Air Conditioning, and Chrome Road Wheels. The car presents very well but as with any unrestored 45 year old car there are things that will need some attention - NONE prohibit you from enjoying this car just the way it is. 1.) Heater Core is bypassed - must have a leak in the core. 2.) Exhaust Manifold on the driver's side has a small leak, most likely a gasket since the motor is fresh. The exhaust looks new the rest of the way - I did notice a small hole in one muffler most likely due to condensation in the muffler. 3.) Radio does not seem to work - could be the antenna. 4.) Some minor rust bubbles that can be easily repaired (not rotted) showing around chrome trim at the base of the convertible ahead of the trunk. 5.) When you top off the gas tank - some gas will leak from the sender gasket on top of the tank. That's about it - I'm helping a friend sell this car, so any questions you have I can get answered, but may take a day or two. We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out.
Typically, after driving a new car or truck, we come away prepared to hazard a guess as to whether said model has a good chance of being a sales success. We've amassed enough time watching the industry, scrutinizing the competitors, and so on, to make a reasonably educated bet. Yet here we are, days removed from driving the new 2013 Buick Encore, and we still have no bloody idea.
Buick has best sales year ever, delivers over 1M cars globally
Wed, 08 Jan 2014If there are any lingering doubts why General Motors held onto Buick while killing Pontiac, Hummer and Saturn, one only has to look at the sales numbers from 2013 for the real answer. Thanks largely to strong sales in China, Buick set a global sales record last year by selling more than one million vehicles.
The lion's share of Buick sales came from China, which sold more than 809,000 units - about four times more Buicks than were sold in North America as a whole. In the US, the Buick Encore accounted for almost half of all US sales with 97,311 units as Buick spent the summer trying to keep up with demand of the subcompact crossover. Likewise, China-only models like the GL8 minivan and Excelle sedan (same as the US-spec Verano) were strong sellers in that market.

Buick mulling more powerful Encore; diesel too
Mon, 21 Oct 2013Looking to set itself apart in the mid-luxury segment, Buick is looking to introduce a diesel engine somewhere in its US lineup. And according to Edmunds, the two best chances of a diesel Buick rest with the Encore and Verano.
In both our First Drive and Review of the 2013 Encore, our chief complaint about the compact crossover was the the lack of power from the 138-horsepower turbo engine. Edmunds says that the recently introduced 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine (with both gas and diesel variants) from the Encore's overseas cousin, the Opel Mokka, could make its way into the Encore delivering the much-needed boost in power.
Then there's the Verano. As a close relative to the Chevy Cruze, which just added a diesel engine for 2014, the article speculates that a Verano Diesel might actually be the more "probably candidate" if and when Buick decides to add a diesel model to its portfolio. Either way, offering such an engine in one of its products could be a great way for Buick to differentiate itself from Cadillac and possibly even attract buyers from Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz looking for a luxurious, fuel-efficient vehicle.
