Up for bid is a track ready 1978 Chevy Camaro body with a 1969 BBC 427ci engine block and heads (Engine code LA: 390HP), Turbo 350 transmission built to handle 800HP. Comp Cam: Camshaft, Roller Rockers, Roller Lifters. Engine was rebuilt with less than 1000 miles on it. Bore 30 over. Engine has about $8000 put into. Estimate to have 600+ HP and runs in the mid 11s at 1/4 mile track. Tires: Front Kumho 165/80/R15 87T, Rear MT 280/10.5/15. These tires and wheels cost over $1500 new. Engine idle smooth. DART high rise intake with 850cfm Holley double pump mechanical secondary. Empty NOS bottle and NOS system equipped ready, but never used. Most steel hoses and fittings. Electric Fan and new radiator. Long tube headers with mufflers. MSD ignition. Front brake lock up system for burn out. After market Sunpro Gauges, B&M floor shifter.
I was going to take the engine out and put it into my el camino but I've changed my mind. The engine is a real production engine and not a crate engine. Engine came from the 1969 Impala SS427 model pushing 390HP. Just wish I have room to keep this unique 1969 427 engine for later use. Here is your chance to own something hard to find. If you want to covert it to street legal, you can replace the windshield, headliner, back seat, windshield wipers, street tires, turn signals and horn. If you live near by, feel free to come and look at the car. I also have the car up for sale locally. Clear Title in hand.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015
Mon, 25 Feb 2013General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.
