1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Epping, New Hampshire, United States
Up for sale is a 1983 Autoform Z28 Camaro. Chevrolet decided to make the 1983 convertible available through some dealers as a limited production option. Auto Form Corp. of Elkhart, In., would receive a Camaro, then the would do a conversion as a 2-seat ragtop, the rear seats being covered by a large, rear-hinged fiberglass decklid that hid not only the folded top but the entire rear-seat area. Auto-Form Corp made 476 of these conversion Camaros and as of last year 120 were known to still exist. This car is not one of those 120. I found this car in a barn up the street from me. It had been parked for about ten years. They were in the process of repainting the car. I say the car needs a restoration because of the rarity of the car. it should be professionally fixed so the car is what it deserves to be. All original subframe connectors are still underneath car(this is the only 3rd gen from factory with subframe connectors). All inner fiberglass pieces are in great shape. Lights all work. Motor is a cross-fire injection 305 High Output with 58,xxx Original miles. A tune up was done on the car and it runs and drives great. 700r4 Transmission shifts smooth. Car is sold with a Bill of sale, No Title is required in New Hampshire for a vehicle this old. Buyer is responsible for all shipping pickup and delivery. I do know a shipping company that will transport it anywhere in the country and if interested will line something up with him for whoever buys the car. Thanks and message me on ebay with any questions about the car

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1
Mon, 11 Feb 2013The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green
Fri, 01 Mar 2013With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
General Motors shaking up its marketing... again
Wed, 13 Mar 2013One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
