Hydro-locked engine! My son drove through a deep puddle during a storm and the engine sucked water through the air intake. We had the car towed home, pulled the plugs, turned the motor over to pump out the water, drained the crankcase, then put in fresh oil, oil filter and new Denso plugs. The car started, but has the sort of knocking indicative of a bent rod. I figure that the engine would blow if we tried to drive at much over idle speed, so it is still parked in front of my house.

As to the body damage; my son was driving and an elderly gentleman side-swiped him. We took the payout from the insurance company instead of having the body repair done, and my son kept driving the car until this incident with the water. Looking at the photo, you will see that the dents include the front fender and both doors on that side. I primed the damage shortly after the accident to avoid rust. Since the accident, there has been an issue with the power locks sometimes failing.

New battery in June
4 Goodrich tires with less than 5,000 miles on matching 15" Chevy aluminum rims
Belt replaced in June
Has the optional airbags and none have ever been activated
A/C, stereo and power windows work well.

Chevy confirms Corvette Stingray Convertible for Geneva

Want proof that General Motors has increased global ambitions for its 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray? It's staging the world premiere of the model's convertible variant at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.
As previously rumored, the droptop rendered above will debut at the Swiss show, making its first appearance anywhere on March 5. According to Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet, the location makes sense because Corvette "...is an icon that has long been recognized and admired even in countries where it's never officially been offered."
While neither Chevrolet nor the Corvette has a major sales presence in Switzerland, the Bowtie's European headquarters is located in Zurich (about three hours to the northeast of Geneva) and GM has made it clear that it wants to build the Chevrolet brand up across Europe.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
