Up for auction is a freshly done (less than 100 miles ago) build of a true 1965 Nova SS 117 car. The car is Show/Driver quality, meaning it is not overly done to where you would be afraid to drive it. It still needs a few minor touches to be done, such as installing some weather stripping, re-chroming the front hood emblem, dash panels etc. Here is a list of everything done to this car in the build. I am sure there is more, however this is what comes to my mind at the moment.

- true 65 nova 117 car, rust free
-TCI pro tour front clip with 4 link rear
-Currie narrowed ford 9" with 456 gears
-professionally done mini tub with all sheet metal and stipple painted
-fuel cell and battery located in the trunk, fuel door welded
-new 2 tone paint with Glasurit clear, door jambs painted as well
- Por 15 floor pans, and lined with sound proofing
- th 350 tranny with 2800 stall
- Ed Hale built 383 stroker, full roller, AFR 220 SP heads, custom 2k lemons headers, match ported victor intake, quick fuel 950 carb, Mallory unilite, msd 6al-2. Motor was dynoed at 619 hp @ 7000 rpm and 520 fpt @ 5400 rpm before porting intake. Motor is fully studded. Powermaster alternator, powermaster hi torque mini starter, electric water pump.
- custom aluminum radiator with electric fan. Car does not over heat on the streets
-most chrome has been redone
- most trim has been straightened and polished.
- new windshield and rubber
- have all new weatherstripping, but some needs to be installed
- steel cowl hood
-Custom Italian leather wrapped bucket seats, two tone black and grey with orange stitching
-QA-1 coil overs all the way around
-Torque thrust II's front and rear, 12's in the rear with 335's
-new carpet, headliner, and door panels
-Wilwood front disc brake
-3" mandrel bent exhaust with magnaflow mufflers
- Like new 215 45 17 fronts, 335 35zr17 Michelin Pilots on the rear
-Por 15 floor pans and sound proofed

Reserve is set at a fraction of the cost to build this car. Buyer is responsible for pick up. Trades are considered, however I am really only looking for older 49-51 Mercury or comparable customs. Would consider an AC Cobra as well.  Nothing new or modern.

Any questions, please contact me prior to bidding.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
