1962 Chev Pickup. Great Truck, Nice Find. Impressive. Look! on 2040-cars
Burlington, Washington, United States
A rare find! Early Chev factory Super Duty truck with 79k original miles. Spent majority of its 50-year life in warm and dry California and Arizona. Factory 283 V8 motor that starts easy and runs fantastic. Very stock thoughout with clean interior, rubber matted floor, nicely redone bench seat, uncut dash with factory AM radio that stills works great! Drives nice, shifts well, like new tires, good wood in bed. An extra nice classic truck that gets tons of attention and compliments every time out of the garage. Beyond looking nice and running well, this truck has an excellent "feel" to it, indicative of the care taken and limited, light-duty work over its life. This "feel" is something very difficult to recapture, even in a big-dollar restoration.....they are only original once! Priced very aggressively for quick, hassle free sale, no dreamers or schemers. Just to be clear....the auction includes the 1962 Chev Truck. The matching vintage boat is NOT included in the auction price but is available to the winning bidder as desired (they make an incredibly impressive package and really deserve to stay together). The boat is a real find in and of itself, with tons of original documentation and a color and era-matched companion to this classic truck, fully servicable and ready for action. Unbelievably cool-looking, correct outboard motor, vintage interior decor and a really cool era-correct feel. Join both a classic car and classic boat club with this package......a guaranteed hit at the lake, even sitting next to ultra big-dollar set ups. BIDDER BONUS!!!!! For any bidder wisely using the Buy-It-Now button to purchase the truck, the matching vintage boat will be made available for $3500!!!!!! (this price NOT available separately). Serious, capable buyers only. Call to discuss only after reading entire listing. Thanks. Tel: 503-830-7385 or 360-510-1386 |

Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states
Fri, 26 Sep 2014The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.
GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
