One of 2 twin-turbo conversions on F355 Challenge cars performed by Ferrari-authorized dealer on a factory built 1997 355 Challenge car. Conversion done in 2007 at a cost of $32,000. Mileage is approx. 15,000 and change. This car has a 6 speed manual transmission.

Currently set up at 500 RWHP for maximum reliability, 600 RWHP is available with minimum fuss. I believe max boost is 700 RWHP. I have kept it at 500 rwhp (low boost) for extreme reliability. Body, engine and transmission in excellent shape. As any Ferrari fan knows, the 355 engines are bulletproof if well maintained, and this car has always been maintained by the Ferrari dealer. Receipts available.

Extremely reliable, much easier to drive fast than a 360 or 430 Challenge (I sold my 360CH to buy this), and faster than both those cars. I have used this as a trackday car only, as has the previous owner (before turbo installation). Has custom ECU programming, uprated injectors, custom twin intercoolers, electronically adjustable shocks, etc. Everything was hand fabricated to make this an extremely fast yet great-handling car. Major service done in 2008, and car has been in storage since.

Paint and body are in excellent condition except for the lower front spoiler lip which has some stone chips. Body is straight with no accidents. Full roll cage, passenger seat, fire extinguisher plumbed in. Rear wing. Set up for 2-way radio and has videocam mount. Everything works as it should. Car has a custom “large man” seat for me, but original racing seat can be re-installed. Has passenger seat. Both have 6 point harnesses.

The car is a joy to drive. Incredible grip but very forgiving at the limit. Faster than any 360/430/F40 or anything else I’ve been on track with. This is a car you wear, not a car you sit in.

Back injury forces sale. I thought I’d recover and keep using this wonderful car, but the docs say different. The car is stored at Classic Coach in Elizabeth, N.J and may be viewed/inspected there by appointment. Kindly contact me if you wish to view or inspect the car.

Car is not street-legal, and is sold on a Bill of Sale.

Buyer may pick up the car, or I will assist with shipping. Buyer pays all shipping charges.

Petrolicious documents the motorsport-changing Ferrari 512M

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Petrolicious has had plenty of beautiful cars and big-time personalities in its videos, but today's interview is sees one of the series' most well known subjects - US Formula 1 commentator David Hobbs.
Hobbs is an accomplished racer, capturing a number of podiums and a pair of class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in addition to short stints in F1 and at the Indianapolis 500. One of his Le Mans runs was behind the wheel of this, the Ferrari 512M, a car that's notable for two things - running a 1971 season that included the 24 Hours of Daytona, 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 Hours of Sebring and Watkins Glen 6 Hour races. The other thing it's known for? Failing to win a single one of those enduros.
Still, the Ferrari 512 is one of the Italian marques most iconic 1970s racers and Hobbs' example is a proud member of that breed, delivering a delicious 5.0-liter V12 exhaust note that makes this an easy video to sit through.

Ferrari-driving kid's parents charged by Indian police [w/video]

Tue, 30 Apr 2013

Earlier this month, we reported on a video that was circulating the internet which showed a young boy driving a Ferrari F430 on a street in India while other children watched and two adults recorded the whole thing. And that was all that we knew at the time. Now, there is more information about the car, the kids and their parents thanks to an article in the Daily Mail. As it turns out, a wealthy businessman let his son drive the Ferrari as a present for his ninth birthday and recorded the whole thing while his six-year-old son was riding shotgun.
According to the report, the father, Muhammad Nizam, faces charges and possibly the seizure of the car for letting his son get behind the wheel. Oddly enough, the video is still up on YouTube, and we have it posted for you below.

Winningest Ferrari ever feted by Petrolicious

Wed, 21 May 2014

When Petrolicious showed its video starring the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO, we weren't sure it could be topped. Now, barely two weeks later, it has. Somehow, the video crew of one of our favorite YouTube series has gotten its mitts on one of the rarest, winningest, and most unique Ferraris to ever rove the planet.
This is a 1957 Ferrari 625/250 TRC, a customized stunner originally owned by Ferrari importer John Von Neumann that won a number of races across the country during its heyday. There's a lot more to this car than its wins at the Grand Prix of Mexico, Laguna Seca, Riverside and Pomona (and others), though.
See, this car was originally bought by Von Neumann alongside a second 625/250 TRC. Both cars were already rarities, sporting a 2.5-liter four-cylinder race engine sourced from Ferrari's Le Mans efforts. Von Neumann took things a step further, acquiring a 3.0-liter V12, which was then shoehorned into the sleek TRC's body. Yes, wee little Ferrari with a big ol' engine. It's a hot rod, and is one of the best looking, best sounding cars we've ever seen.
