1986 Ford Bronco Ii Xlt Sport Utility 4x4 Diamond In The Not-too-rough on 2040-cars
Middletown, California, United States
Recently rescued from a few years of my family's outdoor under-the-pines storage here in the mountains of Northern California. Looking for a good home for this otherwise remarkably preserved Bronco II, showing almost no wear and tear. I don't want to see it spend another winter outside here... It is "NON-OPed" so there are no DMV fees here in California against it. It's the 2.9 L V6, "loaded" with an automatic transmission, air-conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power windows, power door locks, tilt wheel, cruise control and AM/FM cassette. This vehicle's been sitting and it will need some work before it can return to its former glory. Recent outdoor storage in a very moist microclimate has left it with the following challenges: Engine freeze plugs are frozen or rusted out, so the engine does not hold coolant but it starts right up and sounds fine and will run plenty long enough before it warms up to drive up onto a car hauler or trailer. The service brakes need the master cylinder & booster replaced but the parking brake works well enough for careful yard driving. In the very short distances that I have driven the truck, I have never exceeded 10 or 15 miles an hour, but there were no bad noises, the transmission operated normally, steering felt fine, etc. The undercarriage has minor surface rust, but everything is very solid. The only other things I have noticed is that there is a star chip in the windshield, unfortunately right in the driver's line of sight and one little "V6" emblem is missing from the right front fender. On the plus side, before this vehicle's recent poor storage it was mechanic owned and pampered. The body is remarkably straight. After vigorous massaging I found that the original paint still shines although it does have some damage to the paint and paint loss on the roof. The headliner is perfect and the rest of the very bright red '80's-style interior shows remarkably well with minor color fading to the tops of the door panels, but no noticeable wear anywhere. The interior is a bit dirty here and there and smells a bit musty but looks very good. I have never gotten around to cleaning it or airing it out at all. This vehicle is sold as is, where is. I have brought it to the fleet repair garage where I work. Please call the shop manager, Peter, at (707) 987-0254 Extn.22 with any questions or to arrange to see this vehicle or if you need more pictures. I can answer emails also. Transporting the vehicle will be entirely the buyers responsibility, but we are available to officiate at its loading. A non-refundable $500 Pay-pal deposit is required of the winning bidder. Balance due in bank wire transfer, pay-pal or cash in person.

Lincoln 'not true luxury' yet, says Ford design chief
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Lincoln is "not true luxury," according to Ford's design boss, J Mays. His statements come from a story in The Detroit News that saw candid language on the issues facing Ford's troubled premium brand. Notably, there's a need for a strong character, with Mays saying, "Every brand needs to have a DNA and a unique selling point and things in the vehicle that make you think, 'That's that particular brand.'"
With a range of rebadged Fords, it's not hard to see why that DNA is missing. Mays hinted that a full recovery for Lincoln will be a ten-year process, that's been kicked off with the MKZ sedan. While that car is still largely a Ford Fusion under its extremely pretty wrapper, it's the first Lincoln in some time to inject its own unique take both through the exterior styling and through interior features, such as the vertical, pushbutton gear selection.
Some analysts weren't so certain about Mays' 10-year estimate. Jim Hall of 2953 Analytics thinks it'll be more like 30 years before Lincoln can show a true return to form. The issue, as Hall explains it, is that, "luxury has a degree of exclusivity," that Lincoln just doesn't have. Michelle Krebs from Edmunds adds, "it's definitely a wanna-be luxury brand," comparing the troubled American brand with Infiniti and Acura, two other brands that have struggled to find their place in the luxury market.
2014 Ford Transit Connect configurator fires up for the whole family
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The second-generation Ford Transit Connect is almost upon us, and to get work- and family-oriented customers ready for the new model, Ford has launched a configurator for both van and wagon versions. Both body styles will go on sale early next year with the base TC Van starting at $22,000, but customers wanting side windows and rear seats will have to pony up at least an extra $3,000 for the TC Wagon.
Ford is definitely looking to get back into the family van business with the 2014 TC Wagon offering three available trim levels, two engines and the choice between five- and seven-passenger seating (with two wheelbases). Like many recent Ford products, a fancy Titanium trim level is offered, and opting for it will cost you - this trim starts at $29,000, and we were able to spec it out with a panoramic roof, tow package and front and rear parking sensors for a little over $33,000.
Businesses looking for a small, fuel-efficient work vehicle now get more options on the TC Van like the choice of split, hinged rear doors or a liftgate (with or without glass), a long wheelbase ($1,000) and Ford's CrewChief vehicle tracking system ($925). Fully loaded, this van is still costs less than the fullsize E-Series. On both Van and Wagon, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine is a $795 option, but it is only offered on short-wheelbase models and Ford has yet to release power or fuel economy specs yet. With the standard 2.5-liter engine, the TC will get up to 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Ford S-Max Concept proves minivans aren't always minivans [w/video]
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Ford's latest don't-call-it-a-minivan is called the S-Max Concept, and it's a looker. As you can see, the conceptual overgrown hatch makes good use of Ford's latest design language, especially at the very front of the S-Max, which bears a striking resemblance to production models that include the Focus, C-Max and Fusion.
Powering the S-Max Concept is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and while Ford doesn't actually list power figures for the concept, previous estimates put the mill at 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet). Inside, there's room for seven passengers and at least some of their luggage.
As you'd expect, the S-Max is loaded up with all of Ford's latest infotainment technology, including Sync and MyFordTouch. More interestingly, there are also onboard heart and blood glucose monitors that we doubt will be seeing the light of production anytime soon. On that topic, don't expect to see any S-Max-shaped vehicles hitting the US market from Ford, either. Scroll down below for the press release, but not before checking out the high-res image gallery above.
