I bought this truck in 2002 and it has been my daily driver since. I finally bought a new truck so it's time to let it go. In the years I have had it I have always maintained it and would not be afraid to drive it any where, so bring a set of plates and drive it home.... Pros; Straight frame, drives down the road great 4.0 V6 engine starts right up and runs smooth with good oil pressure, nice and quiet Body and paint in good shape for the year and mileage. Still shines nice with minor scratches Cruse control, power windows, power locks and power mirrors all work as they should, includes one working key fob All guages work fine, aftermarket JVC CD stereo with remote from crutchfield installed, still have factory radio with CD which is included, AC works fine Tires are Coopers AT3 which is an aggressive tire with 50% or more of the tread left, they are a little noisy on the road, but great traction 4X4 works fine in both high and low Rese towing hitch with wiring harness Step side with sliding rear window List of parts I have had replaced over the years of owning it; water pump, power steering pump, plugs & wires, front hubs, speedometer sensor, oil pressure sensor, rear breaks, front breaks and roters, o2 sensors, shock absorbers, alternator, battery Cons; The emergency break does not work There are two small holes on the dash where I had my satilight radio mounted, see picture Rims have some blemishes on them, see picture Gear selector indicator is one space off, see picture Interior shows sign of wear There was some rust repairs done on the bottom of the tail gate There is some rust on the back underside of the doors There is two rust holes in the bed under the bed liner I think I have everything covered, but if you would have any questions please ask Also for sale locally, may end auction it sold I require a 500.00 deposit via paypal 24 hours after auction end, the balance can be paid when picking the truck up and title will be signed off ready for you This is a local pickup only in McCutchenville, Ohio 44844, shipping would be at your own expense. NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey
Wed, 09 Jan 2013The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall
Wed, 05 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.
Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC
Tue, 26 Aug 2014Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.
