1984 Pontiac Fiero Indy Pace Car on 2040-cars
Perry, Georgia, United States
Here r sale is a 1984 Pontiac Fiero Indy Pace Car edition. It is an automatic transmission car with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder mid mounted engine. We bought this car from the widow of the original owner over a year ago. It had been in her garage under a car cover since 2001. This is a real Indy Pace car edition with the Indy hood ornament and fender badges. It also has the ghost image Indy 500 in the seat backs. It should have door decals. Unfortunately the lady we bought it from had it repainted by an amateur and it shows at close range. Somewhere along the line someone that didn't know Fieros tried to put it on a lift and cracked the lower rocker panels right below the doors. I have driven this car as recently as last week. We removed the fuel tanks, cleaned it out and installed a new fuel pump as soon as we got it. It has the usual Fiero quirks like the headlights sticking either up or down. I've been told by a member of the Georgia Fiero Club that this is common and not hard to repair. Once you fall down into it it's pretty fun to drive and it corners very well. The previous owner put 4 new 14" tires on it before storing it in the garage. But they may be flat spotted by now. The car came with factory A/C but it is not working at this time. Factory Delco stereo is still here. The interior is good for it's age but it has the issues you would expect from a 30 year old GM car. We have a low reasonable reserve on this car. The old car book says it's worth about $3300.00 in this condition. Our reserve is well below that. Feel free to call or text for more pics and details. Clean GA title goes with it. Thanks for looking. |

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero
Fri, 26 Oct 2012At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
