1966 Porsche 912 - 3-gauge, 5-speed, Very Original Car on 2040-cars
Stanwood, Washington, United States
Due to being a very original Seattle, WA (no salt on the roads) car, this early 3-gauge, 5-speed, numbers matching 912 has been sympathetically refurbished, rather than restored. The paint was tired and cracked, so car was stripped to metal and repainted its original correct color. This is a rust-free, accident-free, hit-free car with all new rubber seals. The interior is completely original and in very good condition including very hard-to-find rubber mats, carpets and upholstery, glass panels all have their 'Sekurit' stamps, spare tire has its original very rare valve stem reinforcing clip. Some carpet is missing near the right
rear seat area and the driver's side rocker panel. If desired, we will
install a new correct carpet kit for $950.00. Chrome is all original and shines beautifully. Original owner upgraded the factory radio to a period AM/FM Blaupunkt radio.
Paperwork includes original sales invoice, original Service Book, original title, extensive maintenance records from the original owner, and Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche Cars North America. Original toolkit also included. Engine was rebuilt and new clutch installed by highly regarded (Denny) Aker's Porsche of Seattle at 86,287mi., and has rolled up 29k trouble-free miles since rebuild. The car also received its routine maintenance and repairs by this same firm most of its life. The engine pulls smoothly and strongly. The braking system was completely rebuilt last year and pulls down evenly and strongly. Gauges, lights, and wipers work well. The paint just shines beautifully. Suspension and steering are tight and responsive. This is an outstanding looking car that would be a reliable daily use vehicle, should that be desired. |

Watch Porsche legend Jeff Zwart frolic in the snow in his 356
Wed, 14 May 2014Racing driver Jeff Zwart picked up a 1953 Porsche 356 Pre A to use as a historical prop in a Cayenne commercial, then decided to keep it when the filming was done. Then, explaining to filmmaker Will Roegge that his vintage toy does really well in slippery conditions, Zwart throws it around in the Colorado snow - on pencil-thin studded tires on 16-inch wheels - to prove the point.
Don't expect roostertails in this winter wonderland video, however; with just about 60 horsepower at sea level, gumption drops to about 40 hp when playing at 9,000 mountainous feet. But that's still plenty to work as a testament to the phrase, "If you've got it, flaunt it," and you can watch it below.
New Porsche 4-cyl engines to range from 1.6L to 2.5L
Mon, 02 Jun 2014Recent rumors of a turbocharged, flat-four-engine from Porsche for the Boxster (pictured testing above), Cayman and maybe other models go back over a year. The latest scuttlebutt indicates that there could be three variants on the horizon with 1.6-, 2.0- and 2.5-liter displacements and power as high as 360 horsepower.
Car magazine in the UK claims to have access to the specifications for the project and thinks the 2.0- and 2.5-liter versions are guaranteed for production for the Boxster and Cayman. However, it believes a question mark still looms over the 210-hp 1.6L because the engine would go into a new, smaller sports car that still doesn't have a green light for production.
Regardless of displacement, the new fours would be turbocharged and direct-injected. The 2.0-liter would produce around 286 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque, and the 2.5-liter would make about 360 hp and 347 lb-ft. Earlier reports pegged some parts sharing with the current flat-six.
Porsche CEO hints at Macan GTS, expects brand sales growth to 200K+
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Porsche is expecting big things from its little Macan, with CEO Matthias Mueller announcing that not only is a sportier GTS model being considered, but that the CUV will almost certainly help push Porsche beyond its 200,000-unit-per-year sales goal three years earlier than expected.
"We're transferring the genes of the Porsche brand into a new market segment," Mueller said during a speech to kick off Macan production, according to Automotive News Europe. Macan demand should push the brand past 200,000 sales, Mueller said, confirming what we reported back in August. And if Porsche really has a hit on its hands, it is able to boost production of the sporty crossover beyond its initial capacity of 50,000 units, according to the brand's CEO.
Provided that the Macan is the success Porsche hopes it will be, Mueller hinted that the range could expand beyond the initial Macan S and Macan Turbo. "GTS versions have a tradition at Porsche," Mueller said. "We haven't made a final decision yet regarding the Macan, but I'm sure it makes a lot of sense."
