Up for sale is my gorgeous little 1988 924s.  This is the last year this model (the 924 w/ the 944 engine and drivetrain) were made...Engine &  trans (5-speed manual) smooth & strong.  Have had at higher speeds and ran great; travels straight as a nail  at 75+ mph; have taken on 100 mile daytrips many times without incident....Have used as my daily driver for the past year, and it just turned 150,000 miles last Friday. Drives and corners smoothly.

I believe that nearly everything is original...has been repainted in the original Guards Red color.  All of the rubber weatherstrip and outer trim is in great shape. Phone dial rims; tires have good tread. The back hatch area carpet looks like replacement, but fits perfectly and compliments the car.  The large power sunroof comes out to make this the closest thing to a convertible you can get.  There is virtually no rust on this car..

As with any car this age, it does have its flaws...common with almost all Porsches of this model, it has some dash cracks. They would easily be covered with a dash cap or carpeted dash pad.  The A/C blows, but not super cold.  Have not had it checked, as I have the roof off most of the time. The car's vents, air flow, rear defrost and front defrost as well as heater work fine.  The driver's door passenger window switch is intermittent; it works fine from the pssgr door, and the driver's window switch is fine.  Some of the dash lights are out- I was told this is a good sign that not all are out...but I have not had that issue looked at.  All in all, a super-fun classic ride, waiting for a new home.

Please ask before bidding if you have any questions; also let me know if you need to see additional pics...

Happy Bidding, and thanks for looking!

Porsche Panamera gets new diesel in time for Frankfurt

Tue, 03 Sep 2013

Diesel may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Porsche, but in the European market - that vital one which Porsche calls home - diesels are indispensable. Particularly when you're trying to extend beyond niche sports cars and into the mainstream luxury sedan market as Zuffenhausen has with the Panamera. In fact, diesels account for 15 percent of Panamera sales worldwide (even though they're not offered Stateside), so to keep oil-burning customers happy, Porsche has announced a series of upgrades.
Set to be unveiled in the flesh at the fast-approaching Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Panamera Diesel packs 300 horsepower. That's 50 hp (or 20 percent) more than the model it replaces, significantly dropping the 0-62 sprint from 6.8 seconds to 6 flat, and raising top speed from 152 miles per Autobahn-crunching hour to 161. While they were at it, Porsche's engineers also fitted the rear differential with torque vectoring (previously reserved for gasoline-burning models) and retuned the transmission and suspension.
You can delve into the press release below for all the details - including the new model's improved towing capacity! - but the reality, for better or worse, is that the Panamera Diesel isn't offered here. So if you've been celebrating Labor Day (or even Labour Day, for our friends to the north) like we have, don't go looking for it at your local dealer, who will have only a Cayenne Diesel to show you instead.

NYT profiles Blue Nelson, a reclusive and interesting CA car collector

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

If it weren't for his Dale Earnhardt Sr. looks, Blue Nelson could be one one of those soft-spoken, nondescript guys whom you meet briefly and never learn much more about. However, as The New York Times shows in a recent profile and video, behind closed doors, Nelson keeps a fascinatingly eclectic collection of automotive oddities and vintage bicycles.
While his main career is in the movie industry, Nelson's other job is as a car hunter. He takes on clients searching for a specific model and helps them find and restore the dream vehicle that they're after. Hiring him takes some dedication, though, because Nelson doesn't advertise his services. "If people want to find me, they know how to find me," he says in the video.
Beyond being an automotive private detective, Nelson has a fantastically varied collection of vehicles of his own. He likes to have models that people don't usually see, and his garage holds a classic Chrysler New Yorker and an extremely rare Rometsch convertible. Although, the one that means the most to him is the 1962 Porsche 356 convertible that Blue came home in as a baby. Check out the video to learn more about Nelson and his philosophy about forming a bond with a car.

Porsche becomes first company to rent out Vatican's Sistine Chapel

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

We wouldn't go so far as to say God is a Porsche fan, but those in charge of one of the holiest Christian spots on our little blue marble are welcoming the German automaker into one of the religion's most revered and beautiful settings - the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. In so doing, Porsche will reportedly become the first company to rent out the holy hall for a corporate function.
Now, it's not like Pope Francis has signed off on Porsche doing do donuts in a 911 underneath Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. Instead, the Vatican has rented out the home of the Papal Conclave to the Porsche Travel Club, which will host a classical music concert. The Travel Club organizes events and tours across Europe for Porsche enthusiasts, with the Vatican concert just one part of a tour of Rome.
According to Automotive News Europe, Porsche will sell 40 tickets - at 5,000 euros each ($6,379) - to the event, while the Vatican has confirmed that the Pope will not be in attendance.
