It's the time for me to let this baby go! (sadly). Looking to sell this 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. It took me more than 1 year to put everything together. I did enjoy it for a while with all the attention I had, but sadly it's just too much for New York. Instead of getting pulled over by cops everyday when I go home, I will just let it go and let the next owner enjoy it, and hopefully they are not from a town as crowded as New York. Enough background description. Let's get to the detail of the car. This car is based on a 2004 STi shell, so it does have a full 17 digit VIN number, which you can register in all 50 states. The interior and engine is from a 2005 JDM STi which directly shipped from Japan, and installed from head to toe, includes engine, transmission, all wire harness, steering wheel, stereo, seats, etc. After that, I invested about another 8G for the rims and tires, bodykit, suspension, intake and exhaust. You don't want to know how much money and time I put in this baby, but it's time for me to move on. Here's a list of all the parts: -- 2005 Subaru STi JDM Conversion Noise (bumper, fog covers, hood, hood scoop, HID headlights, HID ballasts, radiator, radiator support, fenders) -- JDM 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi EJ20 complete engine swap -- 6 speed transmission ECU DIFF axle -- 2005 Subaru STi JDM complete harness -- Complete JDM RHD dash with cluster -- BC racing Coilovers -- K&N typhoon air intake system -- Exedy Clutch stage 1 -- Front and Rear JDM door shells and inner panels -- C-WEST Front lip -- C-Speed 2 Duraflex Side skirts -- STi CS rear bumper Aprons -- HKS Hi-Power Exhaust -- JDM Work Emotion 18 inch rims 5X100 with Falken Tires. -- F

Subaru recalling over 8,000 cars for Takata airbag inflators

Tue, 08 Jul 2014

We have one more automaker to chalk up recalling Takata airbag inflators. Subaru is now throwing its hat in the ring by repairing 8,557 vehicles nationwide for faulty front passenger inflators. According to the Defect Notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem affects 3,151 examples of the Legacy, Outback and Baja from the 2003 and 2004 model years and 5,406 units of the Impreza, including the WRX and STI (pictured above), from the 2004 model year.
As we all know by now, it's possible for the inflators to explode during airbag deployment possibly affecting not only the bag's inflation but also potentially spraying metal shrapnel at occupants. All of the affected vehicles will receive new passenger side inflators at no charge to the owner.
Seven automakers in the US announced recalls for the problem in late June affecting an estimated 2.1 million vehicles. Unlike some of the companies, Subaru is repairing all of the affected models in the US, rather just in certain warm-weather states. According to company spokesperson Michael McHale to Autoblog the reason is that "it was simpler to get everybody in there and make sure it was done." The replacement inflators should be in by the end of July, he said. Scroll down to read the recall report from NHTSA or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.

2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek gets more infotainment, safety tech

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

A couple of months ago, Subaru rolled out a series of minor enhancements for the Impreza, and now it's performed a similar upgrade to its more rugged counterpart, the XV Crosstrek. For 2015, the XV benefits from available EyeSight driver assistance suite, steering-responsive fog lights and a new 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with a seven-inch version on higher-spec models).
Otherwise the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek and XV Crosstrek Hybrid are essentially the same as the 2014 models they replace. The requisite 2.0-liter boxer four drives to all four wheels as always, with or without hybrid assist, through either a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. Look for the updated model to reach dealers this December, and in the meantime, feel free to peruse the press release below.

Subaru Forester, Legacy and Outback earn IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratings

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced its more rigorous standards for the Top Safety Pick+ crash test rating back in September, and has recently called out some new models that have attained this highest rating. Last year, the TSP+ category was created for vehicles passing the then-new small overlap crash test; this year the top award has been amended to include crash prevention technology.
Thanks to its EyeSight technology, the Subaru Legacy, Outback and Forester are among just 22 vehicles to have been named a 2014 TSP+ by the IIHS. Without this technology, all three vehicles - and the Impreza and XV Crosstrek - were still named a Top Safety Pick (without the +).
To test the crash prevention technology, the IIHS uses two tests (one at 12 miles per hour and one at 25 mph) to see how well the systems do to lessen the severity of an impact. or prevent an impact altogether. Vehicles are then given a rating from Superior (best), Advanced or Basic, and cars that do not offer forward collision warning or auto braking are not given a rating in this category. To be named a TSP+, a car must achieve at least a Basic score for crash prevention, but all three Subaru models earned a perfect score to receive a Superior rating.
