********** 2010 CHRYSLER 300C HEMI ********** THE 2010 CHRYSLER 300 SEDAN HAS SUCCEEDED WHERE MANY OF ITS DOMESTIC RIVALS HAVE NOT. WHILE IT'S TRUE THAT AMERICANS HAVE FLOCKED TO THE 300 CHIEFLY BECAUSE OF ITS BOLD STYLING, THE 300 PROVIDES A ROOMY INTERIOR, IMPRESSIVE RIDE AND HANDLING, AND THE AVAILABILITY OF THE WELL-KNOWN HEMI V8 ENGINE. THE 300 BENEFITED GREATLY FROM THE NOW-DEFUNCT MERGER BETWEEN MERCEDES-BENZ AND CHRYSLER BY RECEIVING A NUMBER OF GERMAN-ENGINEERED COMPONENTS, INCLUDING ITS REAR SUSPENSION AND FIVE-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ONE MIGHT THINK WITH SO MUCH PREMIUM CONTENT ADDED TO THE MIX THAT THE 300'S PRICE TAG WOULD ALSO SURGE, BUT THAT IS NOT SO. THANKS TO THE 300'S POPULARITY AMONG THE TUNER CROWD, THERE ARE PLENTY OF AFTERMARKET PARTS, ALLOWING OWNERS TO CUSTOMIZE THEIR CARS TO THEIR HEARTS' CONTENT. ALL 2010 CHRYSLER 300 MODELS ALSO FEATURE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS AS STANDARD SAFETY EQUIPMENT. NEW STANDARD ITEMS FOR THE 2010 CHRYSLER 300C INCLUDE KEYLESS ENTRY/KEYLESS GO AND A REAR PARK-ASSIST SYSTEM. THIS 2010 CHRYSLER 300C HEMI IS ABSOLUTELY LOADED WITH OPTIONS.

Mopar opening Custom Shop at Cobo
Thu, 09 Jan 2014While other automakers have been streamlining their brand portfolio, the Chrysler Group has shown no such signs. It's got the Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep brands, plus Fiat, and it recently broke out its SRT and Ram nameplates into their own brands. And you can bet each will have its own presence at the Detroit Auto Show this year. But don't forget Mopar. The company's performance parts division is getting its own display at Cobo this year, and it'll be the largest in the brand's history.
The Mopar Custom Shop is poised to take up 5,500 square-feet of Cobo floor space, further expanding on last year's Mopar Garage. If the image above offers any indication, the show stand will include a Dodge Challenger, SRT Viper, Fiat 500L, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Cherokee, Ram 3500 and what looks like (but isn't identified in the press release below as) a Chrysler 200 (which may be replaced by a 2014 model), all augmented with Mopar parts and accessories.
Visitors will also be able to use pre-programmed iPads to configure Chrysler Group vehicles with a wide range of accessories - a portfolio that grows by 1,500 new parts every year and tops over 100 add-ons for every new vehicle Chrysler launches.
Chrysler killing off the 200 Convertible, Dodge Avenger
Sun, 23 Feb 2014When Chrysler rolled out the first-generation 200 to replace the Sebring range in 2010, it included replacements for both the sedan and the convertible. The Sebring Coupe, however, was left out of the mix. And now that the second-generation Chrysler 200 is descending upon us, Auburn Hills is paring things down even further. But this time, it's the convertible that reportedly isn't making the cut. Shame, too, since the rendering above shows what could have been quite an attractive droptop.
As our compatriots at Edmunds point out, sales of the convertible model accounted for less than five percent of overall Chrysler 200 sales, and at those numbers, the considerable cost of engineering a new drop-top couldn't be justified. With the Toyota Camry Solara and Volkswagen Eos also gone from the market (well, the VW isn't gone quite yet), the discontinuation of the Chrysler 200 Convertible leaves the affordable convertible segment largely to the sportier likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro and smaller European offerings like the Mini Cooper and VW Beetle.
The Chrysler 200 Convertible isn't the only derivative being left behind with the new model: so too is the Dodge Avenger. That will leave a glaring hole in the Dodge lineup, with nothing to bridge the gap between the compact Dart and the larger Charger. Whether the Dodge brand has any plans to replace the Avenger with another model, not to be based on the 200, remains to be seen.
Chrysler patents smarter minivan folding seats
Thu, 02 Jan 2014It's frightening to think of how quickly the mice would have overtaken us if we hadn't stayed one step ahead of them with better mousetraps. We'll never have to worry about that in our relentlessly re-engineered world, though. Case in point: Chrysler has been granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for an improved design of the already wondrous Stow 'n' Go seating found in the automaker's Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.
Introduced in 2005, the Stow 'n' Go was improved in 2008, and based on the drawings of this third-generation improvement, the new design appears to allow stowage of the second row of seats without having to move the front-row seats forward as much. It look like it also involves fewer operations and moving parts, with a portion of the seatback being incorporated into the flat floor when the seats are stowed, as opposed to having a completely separate cover.
It's possible that the innovation may appear on the next-generation minivans expected in 2015, but Chrysler isn't commenting on the patent.
